Responsibilities
Assistant Brewer is an hourly brewery team member responsible for one or more specialized areas of operation in the brewery. Assistant Brewers typically train in one area, moving on to other areas of responsibility after demonstrating competency. Specialized responsibilities include any of the following:
  • Brewing exacting recipes to spec
  • DE filter operation
  • Racking of finished beer into kegs
  • Forklift operation
  • Cleaning and sanitation of vessels and equipment
  • Yeast management and propagation
  • Soda production

General responsibilities for all Assistant Brewers include:
  • Receiving deliveries
  • Use of proper and safe chemical handling techniques
  • Daily cleaning and upkeep of appearance in brewery
  • Adhering to strict safety protocols and OSHA compliance
  • Imparting knowledge about beer and brewing to restaurant guests
  • Representing BJ's at beer events

Requirements
  • Do you thrive working in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented environment?
  • Are you 21 years of age or over?
  • At least one year of comparable brewing experience in a craft brewery and/or experience and skill as a homebrewer
  • Willing to lift heavy objects repeatedly and safely
  • Comfortable working inside a confined space and from elevated platforms and ladders using fall limiters and harnesses
  • All brewery team members must be able to work as a team doing any and all aspects of the process to assist each other in executing the tasks in an efficient manner
  • Flexibility with work hours and availability is a must
