What is a breeding technician?

Breeding technicians are specialized professionals who assist in the reproduction and genetic management of animals or plants, typically in agricultural, research, or breeding program settings. Their responsibilities often include monitoring animal or plant breeding cycles, collecting and handling genetic samples, performing artificial insemination, and maintaining accurate records of breeding activities. They also ensure optimal conditions for successful breeding and may help with the care and welfare of the animals or plants involved. Breeding technicians play a crucial role in improving genetic traits, productivity, and overall health of livestock or crops. Their work supports advancements in agriculture, animal husbandry, and scientific research.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a breeding technician?
