Breeder Service Technician
At Pilgrim's, Safety Is A Condition, which means the safety of our team members comes first - always.
The Breeder Service Technician is responsible for supporting and monitoring breeder flock health, welfare, and productivity to ensure compliance with Pilgrim's Pride Corporation (PPC) animal care and production standards. This role provides technical guidance to contract growers, implements best practices for breeder bird management, and ensures adherence to company protocols for biosecurity, nutrition, welfare and environmental conditions. The technician works closely with live production management and growers to maintain optimal flock fertility, hatchability, and overall performance to meet production goals.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular farm inspections to verify adherence to company standards, contractual obligations, and cooperative agreements.
  • Provide technical guidance and development programs to assist growers in achieving optimal breeder flock health, fertility, and productivity.
  • Organize and lead safety meetings to promote a culture of compliance and risk prevention.
  • Coordinate and oversee the movement of pullets, ensuring proper handling and biosecurity measures.
  • Perform field vaccinations and administer medications as needed to maintain flock health and welfare.
  • Weigh, handle, and evaluate pullets, hens, and males to track growth and condition.
  • Monitor and analyze hen productivity metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Collect and transport hatching eggs, monitor hatchability, and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with scheduling and training of employees to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with company protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:
• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Poultry Science or similar field preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirement;
• Certifications: Current driver's license and good driving record;
• Experience: 2-5 years of directly related experience preferred;
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office; MTech experience is a plus. Strong communication and leadership skills, both written and verbal. Quick learner of Company protocols/programs and adaptable to change. Solid math and analytical abilities for problem-solving and decision-making. Reliable and ethical, with a strong work ethic and punctuality. Team-oriented and self-motivated, able to thrive in fast-paced environments.
