Overview
TRC is a national engineering, consulting, and construction management firm that provides integrated engineering, consulting, and construction management services to the Environmental, Power, Oil - Gas, and Infrastructure markets. The company is a rapidly growing, highly acquisitive, entrepreneurial company with many opportunities.
We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and experienced Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our growing Engineering team in Chicago, IL. This role works closely with a diverse team of engineers, designers, and specialists to deliver projects to a variety of clients including municipalities, counties, commercial and industrial entities.
Responsibilities
  • Be involved in Infrastructure Development Project aspects including studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Projects may include planning, modeling, and design of facilities such as rail yards, water and wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, pump stations, utilities (water transmission, gravity sanitary sewer mains, force mains, etc.), hydraulics and hydrology, drainage design, site plans, and other miscellaneous civil design projects.
  • Ability to execute engineering best practices for Civil or Mechanical engineering projects for a wide variety of clients, adapting to new environments quickly.
  • Assist senior staff in the production of project plans, specifications, scheduling, budgeting, technical memorandums and cost estimates
  • Assist senior staff with construction management tasks such as material submittal reviews build reviews and coordination with Contractors
  • Conduct site visits, surveys and inspections, and assist with data collection, compilation and assessment for infrastructure projects
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, cities/clients, and other public agencies

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in civil infrastructure design and/or construction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable
  • Physically able to perform work in the field
  • Experience using computer assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering and design documents (examples include software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS)
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
  • Valid Driver License

Preferred
  • Active Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or in the process of completing, Preferred
  • Construction inspection or field engineering experience
  • Interest in long-term growth toward PE licensure

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
