POSITION SUMMARY
The Breakfast Attendant is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and breaking down the complimentary breakfast area in accordance with hotel brand-specific standards and 505 Hospitality Management's quality, cleanliness, and guest service standards. This position plays a key role in delivering a positive first impression for guests each morning and ensuring the breakfast area is welcoming, well-stocked, and compliant with all applicable health codes and regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Work Objectives
  • Prepare the breakfast area prior to service hours by cleaning the area, properly arranging furniture, emptying trash receptacles, making fresh coffee, and stocking drinks, food items, and supplies such as plasticware and napkins in accordance with operating standards.
  • Set up and break down continental breakfast items at the start and close of each service period.
  • Monitor and restock food items, beverages, and supplies throughout breakfast service to maintain par levels and presentation standards.
  • Make fresh coffee as needed throughout the service period.
  • Bus and clean tables continuously during service to maintain a clean and orderly breakfast area.
  • Straighten chairs and maintain proper furniture arrangement throughout the breakfast period.
  • Empty trash receptacles as needed during and after service.
  • At the close of breakfast service, bus and clean all tables, mop the breakfast area, and store or dispose of all food, beverages, and supplies in accordance with operating standards and local health codes.
  • Clean all equipment and store it properly according to established standards.
  • Receive supplies, date and rotate stock, complete inventory records, and follow hotel procedures to ensure orders are placed for items below par levels.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs including food holding temperatures, refrigerator and freezer temperatures, food waste and disposal records, and cleaning and sanitizing records in accordance with local health department requirements and hotel operating procedures.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with local health department codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining other areas of the hotel as directed.
Guest Satisfaction
  • Greet and acknowledge guests warmly as they arrive to and depart from the breakfast area.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest needs, special requests, and complaints; escalate unresolved concerns to management as needed.
  • Maintain a friendly, attentive, and service-oriented demeanor throughout the shift.
Teamwork
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule including early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Assist other team members and departments as needed, including laundry and housekeeping support.
Safety amp; Security
  • Perform all duties in accordance with hotel Safety and Security policies and procedures.
  • Follow all applicable OSHA, HAZCOM, and Bloodborne Pathogens regulations as well as other applicable state and local requirements.
  • Report lost and found items in accordance with hotel procedures.
  • Report any safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or unusual activity to management immediately.
EDUCATION amp; EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; no minimum education requirement.
  • Prior experience in a hotel, food service, or hospitality environment preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to initiate and engage in friendly conversation with guests.
  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Must be able to visually inspect the breakfast area, compare observations to standards, and correct deficiencies independently.
  • Food handler certification may be required in accordance with local health regulations.
PHYSICAL amp; ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
  • Must be available to work shifts beginning as early as 5:00 AM through 12:00 PM noon, including weekends and holidays.
  • Standing and walking required continuously, in excess of 90% of the work period; sitting is limited to short breaks.
  • Bending and stooping required up to 60% of the work period.
  • Reaching required up to 80% of the work period, including occasional overhead reaching (less than 20% of the time); may be combined with pushing, pulling, and bending.
  • Pushing and pulling required in excess of 60% of the work period for dusting, moving supplies, and equipment.
  • Crouching and kneeling required approximately 20% to 25% of the work period, particularly when cleaning cabinet, floor, and storage areas.
  • Lifting of supplies on a regular basis, typically not more than 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Crawling required on occasion, generally less than 5% of the work period.
  • Stair climbing required, generally 1% to 2% of the work period.
  • Firm and simple grasping required throughout all aspects of the work.
  • Work environment is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled hotel setting.
