Seasonal Cookie Team Member 

Breads Bakery is seeking a passionate, purposeful professional to join our cookie team at our Upper East Side bakery. Breads Bakery is a New York bakery dedicated to producing handmade breads and pastries using traditional baking techniques and providing our guests with an unforgettable experience. 

Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Commit to creating consistent, high quality products following the appropriate preparation methods as instructed- communicating to your superiors when there are concerns that these expectations are not met.
  • Assist team in all aspects of production including but not limited to mixing, baking off products, assembling of products, execution of daily mise en place, packing products, and so on. 
  • Maintain regular communication with all departments and Breads Bakery locations to ensure proper production, inventory and bake schedules are maintained- recognizing that every day presents varying needs and adjusting task prioritization accordingly.
  • Assist in packing cookies, cakes, wholesale, catering, Goldbelly, PR, and holiday orders- ensuring items are packaged, labeled, and dated appropriately (if applicable) and distributed in a timely fashion.
  • Submit inventory through the appropriate platforms, assisting and adapting to any system transitions and/or updates in SOPs.
  • Ability to work independently as needed and to communicate with the necessary individuals to ensure daily operations are running smoothly, requests for information and/or tasks are completed punctually and any feedback, ideas for improvement, concerns and/or items of note are shared proactively.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing space in accordance with operations and sanitation guidelines; execute general cleaning, ensure proper storage of goods (FIFO) in accordance with DOH standards and so on.
  • Follow tasks as instructed by direct managers and shift supervisors, ensuring responsibilities are met and, when possible, exceeded; Maintain a 'Yes' mindset and troubleshoot through any obstacles that may arise.
  • Assist at other Breads Bakery locations as needed; ability to adjust and adapt gracefully to unexpected changes.
  • Foster a positive work environment and commitment to Breads Bakery’s values.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Professional experience in production or relevant roles.
  • Remarkable communication and interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving aptitude, and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work holidays and weekends.
  • Previous high volume experience is advantageous. 
  • NYC Food Handlers Certification required- anticipated receipt of card acceptable. If an applicant does not have their certification or the anticipated receipt of their certification, the applicant must agree to obtain certification within the first three months of employment if hired.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards / requirements including meeting and qualitative or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual and regular attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards / requirements
  • Compliance with all personnel policies and practice.
