Senior Scientist – Environmental Investigation & Remediation

What You’ll Do as a Senior Scientist, Braun Intertec prides ourselves on being our client’s experts for Brownfield redevelopment. At Braun Intertec, you will join our expert team of professionals and you’ll lead and manage a variety of brownfield redevelopment projects from concept through construction completion, ensuring they’re delivered on time, on budget, and beyond expectations.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, to understand their needs and develop practical, effective solutions
  • Lead and inspire multidisciplinary project teams, driving accountability, quality, and momentum
  • Own project performance—managing scope, budget, schedule, risk, and profitability
  • Build and strengthen long-term client relationships and strategic partnerships
  • Mentor staff and contribute to developing the next generation of technical and project leaders
  • Provide technical leadership on advanced environmental work, including:
    • Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
    • Soil, soil vapor, and groundwater investigations
    • Response action plans supporting remediation and redevelopment
    • Brownfield redevelopment
    • Knowledge and experience with state and federal regulations
    • Experience with local and national clean up grants
    • Oversight of remedial activities and compliance monitoring
    • Scope development, cost estimating, and proposal preparation
    • Data analysis and report writing
  • Travel locally and regionally as needed (up to ~20%)
What Sets You Apart
  • A BS degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Licensure/certification as a Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer, CHMM or related, and/or ability to be registered/certified within 12 months
  • Demonstrated knowledge of brownfield redevelopment, including assessment, risk management, regulatory engagement, grant writing/management and support of redevelopment goals
  • Significant, in-depth hands‑on environmental and project management experience is required, typically gained through 10–20+ years of progressively responsible work aligned with the position’s duties
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations, Minnesota specific desired
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience
  • A genuine interest in growing existing client relationships and business development
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
