Branded Content information

What is branded content?

Branded content is a marketing strategy where companies create content—such as videos, articles, podcasts, or social media posts—that promotes their brand in a subtle, engaging way rather than through direct advertising. The goal is to provide value or entertainment to the audience while aligning the content with the brand's identity and values. Unlike traditional ads, branded content focuses on storytelling, authenticity, and building a connection with consumers. This approach helps brands increase awareness, trust, and loyalty among their target audience.

How does a branded content specialist typically collaborate with other departments to create effective campaigns?

A Branded Content specialist works closely with marketing, design, sales, and editorial teams to ensure that content aligns with both client objectives and brand voice. This collaboration often involves brainstorming sessions, regular check-ins, and feedback loops to refine messaging and creative assets. Clear communication and adaptability are essential, as priorities may shift based on client feedback or campaign performance metrics. Working cross-functionally not only enhances the quality and impact of campaigns but also provides opportunities to learn from different perspectives within the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a branded content specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Branded Content Specialist, you need expertise in storytelling, digital marketing, and content strategy, often supported by a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, and analytics tools like Google Analytics is typically required. Creativity, collaboration, and strong communication skills help you craft compelling narratives that resonate with target audiences. These abilities are essential for producing engaging branded content that drives brand awareness and achieves marketing objectives.

  • Collaborate across Programming, Digital, Promotions, Sales, Marketing, Production, and other internal teams to execute multi-platform initiatives.
  • Embrace new technologies, evolving platforms, and changing audience behaviors while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and compliance.
  • Host and contribute to on-air programming while creating engaging content across digital, streaming, podcasts, video, and social media platforms.
  • Develop, produce, edit, and publish original multimedia content, including interviews, recurring series, promotions, livestreams, branded content, and audience engagement initiatives.
  • Serve as an on-camera personality representing the station across broadcast, digital platforms, community events, remote broadcasts, concerts, and promotional activations.
  • Cover local events, artists, entertainment, and cultural moments by creating timely, platform-specific content that drives audience engagement.
  • Write scripts, copy, interview questions, captions, voice-overs, promotional assets, sponsorship integrations, and other creative content supporting station initiatives.

  • Monitor social trends, audience insights, and performance analytics to identify content opportunities and optimize audience growth.
  • Collaborate with Programming, Promotions, Digital, Marketing, Sales, and Production teams to execute integrated content strategies and station campaigns.
  • Operate production equipment and content creation tools while maintaining compliance with FCC regulations, company policies, and broadcast standards.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

YOU HAVE:
  • Experience as an on-air personality, digital content creator, influencer, or multimedia storyteller.

  • Strong understanding of audience development, digital content strategy, social platforms, and emerging trends.
  • Experience shooting, editing, publishing, and optimizing video and multimedia content using mobile and professional production tools.
  • Ability to interpret audience insights and analytics to improve content performance and audience engagement.
  • Strong organizational, collaboration, project management, and time management skills.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, remote broadcasts, community events, and other schedules as business needs require.
  • Reliable transportation required.
