Brand Stylist information

What is a brand stylist?

Brand stylists are creative professionals who help businesses develop and maintain a cohesive and visually appealing brand identity. They work on elements such as logos, color schemes, typography, and overall aesthetics to ensure that all brand materials reflect the company’s values and appeal to its target audience. Brand stylists often collaborate with designers, marketing teams, and business owners to create a consistent look and feel across all platforms. Their work is crucial in making a brand memorable and recognizable in the marketplace.

How does a brand stylist typically collaborate with marketing and design teams during a project?

Brand Stylists work closely with both marketing and design teams to ensure visual consistency across all brand touchpoints. They often participate in brainstorming sessions, provide art direction, and create style guides that align with the brand’s identity. Regular communication and feedback loops help ensure that campaigns, packaging, and digital assets reflect the desired brand image. Successful collaboration requires adaptability, clear communication, and a strong understanding of both marketing objectives and design principles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a brand stylist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Brand Stylist, you need a solid understanding of visual design principles, branding strategy, and often a degree or certification in graphic design, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, web design platforms, and branding tools is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help a Brand Stylist craft compelling visual identities and collaborate effectively with clients or teams. These skills are crucial for building cohesive and impactful brand images that resonate with target audiences and support business objectives.

What is the difference between Brand Stylist vs Visual Merchandiser?

Work EnvironmentPhoto shoots, branding agencies, fashion brandsRetail stores, shopping malls, retail brands
Required SkillsBranding, styling, photography, communicationDesign, spatial arrangement, creativity, retail knowledge

While both roles involve visual aesthetics, a Brand Stylist focuses on developing a brand’s overall visual identity and style, often working on campaigns and photo shoots. A Visual Merchandiser concentrates on creating appealing in-store displays to enhance customer experience and drive sales. Both roles require creativity and an eye for design but serve different aspects of visual presentation within the industry.

Job description

Brand Styling Intern for Vandelay Companies

About Vandelay Companies

For over a decade, Vandelay has defined what it means to deliver iconic, enduring hospitality experiences. With a growing portfolio of distinctive brands and markets nationwide, we are driven by a passion for craftsmanship, connection, and the pursuit of excellence. Every Vandelay concept celebrates the spirit of American dining: timeless spaces, genuine warmth, and an uncompromising commitment to quality that leaves a lasting impression on every guest who walks through our doors.

What truly distinguishes Vandelay is our commitment to growth; for our company and for our people. As we continue expanding into new markets nationwide, Shift Leads gain meaningful exposure to leadership, training, and development opportunities designed to support long-term career advancement.

About the Opportunity

Vandelay Companies is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Brand Styling Intern to support the continued evolution of team attire and uniform standards across our growing portfolio of hospitality concepts. At Vandelay, we believe great brands are built with intention. Our goal is to inspire the dream of a better life through quality, authenticity, and timeless style, and the way our teams present themselves is an important extension of that vision.

Working closely with our Operations team, this intern will help research, source, and develop uniform and wardrobe recommendations that reflect the distinct identity of each Vandelay concept while maintaining a consistent commitment to quality and elevated, timeless style. The focus is not on what is simply fashionable in the moment, but on creating looks that feel considered, enduring, authentic to the brand, and appropriate for exceptional hospitality.

This is an ideal opportunity for a Dallas-area student currently pursuing a degree in fashion, fashion merchandising, fashion media, retail merchandising, apparel, styling, or a related field who is interested in gaining hands-on experience at the intersection of fashion, branding, and hospitality.

As a Brand Style Intern you’ll have the opportunity to..

  • Partner with Operations leadership to evaluate and elevate uniform and attire standards across Vandelay’s restaurant portfolio.

  • Help translate the identity and aesthetic of each Vandelay concept into thoughtful, cohesive wardrobe recommendations.

  • Source high-quality apparel, footwear, accessories, and wardrobe pieces that balance timeless style, quality, functionality, and value.

  • Develop concept-specific looks for front-of-house team members and restaurant leadership.

  • Create visual lookbooks and styling guides that clearly communicate the intended appearance and point of view of each brand.

  • Develop shoppable wardrobe resources that make it easy for team members to achieve a polished, consistent look.

  • Evaluate fabrics, construction, fit, durability, and overall quality when sourcing potential pieces.

  • Help identify core wardrobe staples that can remain relevant over time rather than relying on short-term fashion trends.

  • Organize product information, samples, sizing, pricing, vendors, and sourcing options.

  • Assist with fittings, wear testing, and gathering feedback from restaurant teams.

  • Consider the realities of restaurant service—including comfort, movement, durability, care, and availability—without compromising the overall aesthetic.

  • Support seasonal refinements while maintaining consistency with each concept’s established identity.

  • Collaborate with Operations and other partners to ensure team presentation complements the design, atmosphere, service style, and overall guest experience of each restaurant.

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong visual eye and appreciation for classic, elevated, and timeless style.

  • An understanding that exceptional style is rooted in quality, fit, proportion, detail, and authenticity, not simply trends.

  • Ability to recognize how wardrobe and personal presentation contribute to a broader brand experience.

  • Curiosity about the intersection of fashion, hospitality, interiors, lifestyle, and brand identity.

  • Thoughtful approach to sourcing, with an appreciation for craftsmanship, materials, construction, and longevity.

  • Ability to understand an established brand point of view and contribute creatively within it.

Compensation & Perks

  • Competitive compensation

  • Mentorship and hands-on experience with a leading hospitality group

  • Exposure to real projects and direct involvement in creative decision-making

  • Flexible schedule to accommodate academic commitments

  • Dining discounts at all Vandelay Companies concepts

  • Opportunity for future full-time consideration based on performance

Vandelay Companies provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, or any other federal/state protected category.
