What is brand strategy?

Brand strategy is a long-term plan focused on the development and positioning of a brand to achieve specific business goals. It involves defining what the brand stands for, its core values, target audience, unique selling propositions, and overall messaging. A strong brand strategy helps differentiate a company from competitors, builds customer loyalty, and drives consistent marketing efforts. Effective brand strategies guide decisions across marketing, design, communications, and business development.

How does a brand strategist typically collaborate with other departments to execute a brand vision?

Brand Strategists work closely with marketing, creative, product, and sales teams to ensure the brand message is consistently communicated across all channels. They often facilitate workshops, lead brainstorming sessions, and coordinate campaign rollouts, acting as the bridge between creative ideas and business objectives. Regular collaboration ensures everyone is aligned on brand guidelines, voice, and positioning, which is essential for cohesive brand experiences. This cross-functional teamwork also exposes Brand Strategists to diverse perspectives and can open up opportunities for leadership and professional growth within the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a brand strategist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Brand Strategist, you need expertise in market research, brand positioning, and a solid understanding of consumer behavior, often supported by a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Suite, and brand management platforms is commonly expected. Strong creative thinking, communication, and collaboration skills help distinguish top performers in this role. These competencies are critical for building compelling brand identities, driving marketing success, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Marketing Manager

Regina, SK • On-site

Full-time

Posted 5 days ago

Job description

Are you a creative powerhouse with a strategic mindset? Can you craft compelling campaigns, tell unforgettable stories, and make a hotel stand out in a sea of sameness? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you.

As our Marketing Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day operation of the Marketing Department and help turn our larger brand strategy into clear, creative, and measurable marketing plans. You’ll manage and support the Marketing Specialist while working closely with our Brand Advisor.

This is a hands-on management role for someone who can see the big picture, organize all the moving pieces, and still jump into the work when needed. You should be equally comfortable reviewing campaign performance, building a marketing calendar, guiding a photoshoot, coaching a team member, and turning a hotel idea into something guests will actually notice.

A good sense of humour helps too… because marketing a hotel this awesome is fun, fast-paced, and occasionally requires finding a brand-new way to say, “You should really stay here.”

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead, manage, coach, and support the Marketing Specialist.
  • Manage the Marketing Department’s day-to-day priorities, workflow, budget, and performance reporting.
  • Work closely with the Brand Advisor to turn The Atlas° Hotel’s overall brand strategy into clear, actionable marketing plans.
  • Lead digital marketing initiatives through our direct-booking platforms and website partner, including SEO, retargeting, cart abandonment, and direct-booking campaigns.
  • Monitor campaign performance, return on investment, website conversion, and opportunities to increase direct bookings.
  • Lead the day-to-day content strategy and social media direction for The Atlas° Hotel, including paid social advertising, influencer partnerships, media opportunities, and strategic collaborations.
  • Plan and provide creative direction for third-party professional photography, video, and other content projects.
  • Ensure all marketing materials and guest touchpoints consistently reflect The Atlas° Hotel’s brand standards.
  • Provide direction for Knotted Thistle Pub & DISH Restaurant marketing, while supporting the Marketing Specialist with day-to-day execution.
  • Manage monthly newsletters, promotional emails, and other guest communications while identifying opportunities for segmentation, automation, and revenue-generating campaigns.

Jump in wherever needed to support the Marketing Department and bring great ideas to life.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of marketing experience, including experience leading projects, campaigns, people, or external partners.
  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Business, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in hospitality, tourism, Food and Beverage, or experience-based marketing is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing, social media, content planning, email marketing, and campaign reporting. Familiarity with platforms such as Revinate, Meta Ads Manager, Google Analytics, Canva, Sprout Social, and website content-management systems is also considered an asset.
  • Experience managing budgets, priorities, timelines, and multiple projects at once.
  • A confident leader who can provide clear direction, coach others, and hold people accountable.
  • Strong writing, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Creative and strategic, but still comfortable doing the work.
  • Flexible to occasionally support hotel events, campaigns, photoshoots, or initiatives outside regular office hours.

This is a full-time management position. Most hours will fall during regular weekday business hours, but hotels have a habit of hosting their best events outside of Monday to Friday, 9 to 5. Some flexibility will be required for major events, campaigns, photoshoots, and hotel initiatives.
