JOB TITLE: Brand Marketing Manager
DEPARTMENT: Marketing
REPORTS TO: Associate Director, Marketing
SUMMARY:
The Brand Marketing Manager leads and executes marketing strategies for our scientific events and programs. This role is crucial in sustaining our brand's global reach while achieving key goals, such as event registration, award nominations, and membership acquisition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Develop and execute multi-channel digital marketing campaigns.
  • Oversee content creation and brand messaging, ensuring consistency across all marketing channels and adherence to the Academy's brand guidelines.
  • Optimize customer acquisition costs (CAC) and work to increase long-term customer value through tailored messaging, segmented campaigns, and nurturing strategies.
  • Work closely with internal clients across departments to ensure marketing campaigns are tailored to each program's specific needs and objectives while complementing the Academy brand.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing Plan Oversight:
  • Lead the creation, development, and execution of marketing plans for Academy programs, including but not limited to the International Science Reserve, scientific conferences, and awards programs.
  • Define clear campaign objectives, promotional strategies, and the optimal channel mix (e.g., digital, print, paid media) to maximize outreach and engagement.
  • Ensure campaigns meet timelines and deliver measurable results.
Audience Identification & Message Crafting:
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to accurately identify and target key audience segments, crafting messages that resonate with each segment.
  • Ensure that marketing communications highlight the unique value propositions and benefits of Academy programs and events, driving engagement and participation.
Campaign Analytics & Dashboard Optimization:
  • Leverage existing team dashboards and create additional reporting mechanisms to measure and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, using metrics such as impressions, open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates.
  • Continuously optimize dashboards for enhanced reporting accuracy and actionable insights.
Newsletter & Membership Platform Utilization:
  • Effectively leverage the Academy's newsletters and membership platforms to support broader program goals, increase visibility, and boost engagement.
Team Collaboration & Process Improvement:
  • Actively participate in regular team optimization efforts, offering suggestions and insights to improve workflows, campaign execution, and overall marketing processes.
  • Serve as a resource to junior marketing staff, providing guidance and mentorship on best practices and data-driven decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Act as the marketing liaison to ensure consistent brand messaging across all marketing channels and programs

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Undergraduate degree required. Minimum of 4 years experience in digital marketing.
  • Experience with the majority of the below:
    • Paid social and digital advertising platforms, including Meta, Linkedin, and Google Adwords.
    • Project management tools including Asana and Airtable.
    • Google analytics/campaign tracking.
    • Web/landing page conversion optimization.
    • Segmentation and customer messaging
    • Partnership marketing/leveraging event organizers, authors, members, and other marketing partners.
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization that requires other teams to contribute to a campaign plan.
  • Strong copywriting and art direction skills.
  • Proven track record to learn new things quickly/curious mindset.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate simultaneous projects and move quickly from idea to implementation.
  • Prior experience in a science-based organization and or an event organization is a plus.
WORK SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT:
The Academy operates during standard business hours Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm ET. Standard work week is 35 hours, unless otherwise noted.
The Academy offers a flexible hybrid work model, which includes a combination of in-office and remote work. Specific in-office days are determined in coordination with the team and leadership. Flexibility is offered where possible, but regular in-person collaboration is required to support team effectiveness and project goals.
This position is primarily sedentary and performed in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, and video conferencing technology. Employees are regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods, communicate effectively, and occasional walking, bending, or lifting of light items (up to 10 pounds) may be required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Salary: $70,000- $80,000 annually. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The salary listed represents a target range; final compensation will be determined based on multiple factors, including experience and qualifications.
