Job description

Founded in 1977 as the Senior Care Action Network, SCAN began with a simple but radical idea: that older adults deserve to stay healthy and independent. That belief was championed by a group of community activists we still honor today as the “12 Angry Seniors.” Their mission continues to guide everything we do. Today, SCAN is a nonprofit health organization serving more than 500,000 people across Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington, with over $8 billion in annual revenue. With nearly five decades of experience, we have built a distinctive, values-driven platform dedicated to improving care for older adults. Our work spans Medicare Advantage, fully integrated care models, primary care, care for the most medically and socially complex populations, and next-generation care delivery models. Across all of this, we are united by a shared commitment: combining compassion with discipline, innovation with stewardship, and growth with integrity. At SCAN, we believe scale should strengthen—not dilute—our mission. We are building the future of care for older adults, grounded in purpose, accountability, and respect for the people and communities we serve.

Senior Manager, Brand & Creative

The Job As a leader within SCAN Health Plan’s Marketing organization, the Senior Manager, Brand & Creative will lead the Brand & Creative team and steward SCAN’s brand strategy, creative expression, and operating model. This role will partner across the organization to translate business objectives, audience insights, and regulated healthcare requirements into distinctive, scalable brand and creative solutions, while developing team capability and responsibly integrating AI-enabled ways of working to improve quality, speed, efficiency, and measurable business impact. A successful leader in this role should be able to develop brand strategy and translate that into campaign assets (still, audio, video, etc.) leveraging AI, ultimately shaping his/her/their team to perform as a full-service internal marketing agency.

You’ll Develop and Steward Brand Strategy

Develop and steward SCAN’s and its affiliates’ brand strategy, positioning, messaging architecture, voice, and visual expression, translating business objectives and audience insights into clear frameworks that guide Marketing and Creative work and support organizational goals.

You’ll Lead Creative Strategy and Direction

Lead creative strategy and direction across high-priority integrated marketing initiatives, guiding concepts, copy, design, hierarchy, calls to action, and channel expression to ensure work is distinctive, audience-centered, on brand, and aligned with business objectives.

You’ll Govern Brand Standards and Strategic Partnerships

Establish and maintain scalable brand standards, naming and logo guidance, and co‑branding systems; provide Brand and Creative direction for strategic partnerships and third‑party use to clarify brand roles and ensure consistent application across internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll Lead Integrated Campaign and Audience Strategy

Shape Brand and Creative strategy for major seasonal, growth, partnership, and multicultural initiatives, collaborating with business and channel owners to translate objectives into cohesive messaging and creative systems across touchpoints, including culturally relevant transcreation and multilingual adaptation where appropriate.

You’ll Lead and Develop the Brand & Creative Team

Set team priorities and expectations, direct and review work, coach and develop talent, manage performance and capacity, support hiring and workforce planning, and build capabilities that enable autonomy while maintaining high standards.

You’ll Direct Creative Operations and Resource Prioritization

Lead intake, triage, assignment, workflow, review, source‑of‑truth, and capacity‑management practices for Brand & Creative, balancing urgency, complexity, and business value to improve delivery, visibility, accountability, and the effective use of internal and external resources.

You’ll Facilitate Cross‑Functional Leadership

Act as a senior Brand & Creative partner across Marketing, Product, Compliance, Legal, Sales, Digital, Communications, Technology, Finance, and external partners, clarifying roles, surfacing dependencies, and translating approved business, product, regulatory, legal, and technical inputs into actionable creative direction.

You’ll Provide Executive Synthesis and Strategic Recommendations

Develop executive‑ready narratives, presentations, updates, and decision frameworks that synthesize complex information, clarify implications and trade‑offs, and provide actionable Brand & Creative recommendations for leadership review, alignment, and decision‑making.

You’ll Translate Research and Performance into Business Insight

Interpret brand‑health research, audience insights, campaign performance, and Creative Operations measures to guide strategy, assess effectiveness, support business cases, and contribute to budget, forecast, resource, and investment recommendations.

You’ll Advance AI‑Enabled Brand and Creative Capabilities

Lead the responsible integration of AI into the Brand & Creative operating model by identifying appropriate use cases, redesigning workflows, evaluating tools, establishing guardrails, and building team capability across research, synthesis, briefs, ideation, versioning, transcreation, quality review, reporting, automation, and self‑service enablement, while maintaining human accountability for accuracy, brand integrity, audience relevance, accessibility, and compliance.

You’ll Supervises/Manages Others

Actively support and advance SCAN’s vision, mission, and strategic goals. Other duties as assigned.

We seek Rebels who are curious about AI and its power to transform how we operate and serve our members.

Ability to translate complex business, product, technical, legal, or regulatory information into clear Brand and Creative strategies for diverse audiences while partnering effectively with subject matter experts and decision owners.

Graduate or Advanced Degree or equivalent experience preferred. Experience in healthcare, health insurance, Medicare, or another highly regulated or complex industry. Develops people and capability: you set clear expectations, provide direct and actionable feedback, coach employees, delegate thoughtfully, and create opportunities for others to build judgment, confidence, and new capabilities. You balance accountability with trust and enable the team to succeed independently. Organized and autonomous: you have excellent time‑management skills, are highly organized, can manage timelines and resources, and adapt to shifting priorities. You are effective at prioritizing Brand and Creative needs across departments and making clear trade‑offs. Bringing the outside in: you are curious, with a passion for learning and following emerging trends and best practices from brand, creative, marketing, healthcare, and technology, and are motivated to integrate these learnings into how we operate. Keen problem‑solving: you are adept at responding to problems that defy simplistic analysis, thinking conceptually and strategically about the big picture to process issues and solve challenging, multifaceted problems. Mission‑driven: you are aligned with SCAN’s mission, pursuing the best for SCAN before your own personal preferences. You are committed to fully supporting and implementing decisions agreed to by the team, department, and organization. You are willing to go above and beyond to uphold SCAN’s mission and values. AI‑fluent and future‑oriented: you are comfortable leading teams through AI‑enabled work. You identify appropriate use cases, design and govern workflows, evaluate tools, and challenge and refine AI outputs. You know when AI can accelerate work, when it should not be used, when human expertise is essential, and how to protect accuracy, brand integrity, audience relevance, accessibility, and compliance.
