About the Job Branch Manager

Branch Manager - Columbus, OH

Our client is looking for a branch manager that is an anchor-type person who knows how to build in Columbus, Ohio. This person will most likely need to start Cradle to Grave from day one - more player than coach to begin.

This person will oversee the sales and operations of Brokerage Services within their portfolio. This leadership role requires a dynamic individual who can develop a strong sales culture to drive growth, focusing on services that align with customer demands, complement our client's existing competencies, and offer above-average revenue and profit growth. The Branch Manager will have broad responsibilities, including hiring, training, and profit/loss management, and will be a key leader within the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop operational, budgeting, and forecasting plans for the branch.
  • Identify specific industries or transportation modes for the branch to target.
  • Balance investments between business development and operations to maximize growth.
  • Foster a strong sales culture across all branch positions.
  • Create and review detailed financial plans, including profit and loss statements, ensuring adherence to EBITDA goals.
  • Collaborate with other internal operating units to develop joint customer growth strategies.
  • Deliver cost-effective solutions with the long-term interests of customers in mind.
  • Cultivate a high-performance team environment that encourages innovation, productivity, and low turnover.
  • Set and monitor team performance to achieve annual goals and objectives.
  • Provide effective leadership and motivation to direct reports, ensuring team success.
  • Conduct regular leadership meetings and 1:1 sessions for leadership development and communication.
  • Ensure timely and effective annual performance reviews for all team members.
  • Evaluate team member performance in line with organizational policies and goals.
  • Build high-functioning teams by emphasizing service, morale, teamwork, and a positive culture.
  • Ensure compliance with our client's operating procedures and protocols.

Qualifications/Skills & Abilities:

  • A 4-year college degree in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Preferred experience in transportation, supply chain, or related fields.
  • Strong business development, personal training, sales knowledge, and highway service experience.
  • Proven track record of business acumen and improving financial results.
  • Experience managing a profit center is preferred.
  • Proficiency in organizational, communication, conflict resolution, and project management skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, 10 Key, and Data Entry.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Capable of delivering effective presentations and written reports to customers, team members, and managers.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with limited supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in situations with limited standardization.
  • Preferred experience with Registry Monitoring Insurance Services (RMIS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
  • Proven ability to develop, supervise, and motivate high-performing teams.
