Job description

Job Title: Brake Department Supervisor
Overview Summary
We are seeking a Brake Department Supervisor to lead and coordinate daily operations within a press brake manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production while overseeing personnel, equipment, and scheduling. The Supervisor plays a key role in driving continuous improvement, meeting production targets, and fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Payrate: $30.00 - $40.00/hr
Schedule: 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM - Monday – Friday (2nd Shift)
Type: Direct Hire
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily press brake operations to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments are met
Coordinate workflow, staffing, and machine assignments to maximize efficiency and throughput
Monitor production metrics including productivity, scrap, rework, and on-time performance
Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and process inefficiencies
Lead, coach, and develop operators and team leads within the department
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback
Facilitate training on equipment operation, safety procedures, and quality standards
Promote a positive, team-oriented environment focused on accountability and continuous improvement
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA standards
Enforce proper use of PPE, machine guarding, and safe operating procedures
Collaborate with Quality teams to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions
Maintain compliance with ISO or other quality management systems
Oversee setup and operation of CNC and manual press brakes
Ensure accurate interpretation of blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications
Coordinate preventative maintenance and work with Maintenance teams to reduce downtime
Support process improvements, tooling optimization, and waste reduction initiatives
Partner with Engineering, Scheduling, and other departments on production changes and new product introductions
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
Skills & Experience
5+ years of press brake or metal fabrication experience preferred
2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Strong knowledge of CNC press brake operations, tooling, and setup procedures
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Experience in high-mix, low-volume production environments
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
Preferred Qualifications
OSHA safety training or certification
Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems
High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Environment
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration
Occasional exposure to electrical hazards
Noise levels range from moderate to loud
Role requires standing, walking, and use of hands for extended periods
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
Physical activities may include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
