While brainstorming involves generating ideas collaboratively, a creative director leads and manages the overall creative process and vision. Brainstorming is a technique used within the creative process, whereas a creative director holds a leadership role overseeing creative teams and projects.

What is brainstorming and how is it used in the workplace?

Brainstorming is a creative group problem-solving technique used to generate a wide range of ideas or solutions. In the workplace, it typically involves team members sharing thoughts freely without immediate criticism or judgment, encouraging diverse perspectives. This process helps organizations innovate, solve problems more effectively, and engage employees in collaborative decision-making. Structured brainstorming sessions can be in-person or virtual and often follow specific guidelines to maximize productivity and creativity.

What is brainstorming?

A Brainstorming job involves generating and developing creative ideas, solutions, or strategies, often in a collaborative setting. Professionals in this role facilitate discussions, encourage diverse perspectives, and help refine concepts for projects, marketing campaigns, product development, and problem-solving. They may work in industries like advertising, innovation consulting, or business strategy. Strong communication, creativity, and critical thinking skills are essential for success in this role.

How does a brainstorming facilitator typically structure sessions to encourage creative collaboration among team members?

A Brainstorming Facilitator usually begins by establishing clear objectives and ground rules to create an open, judgment-free environment. The session often includes warm-up exercises, followed by guided activities that prompt participants to share diverse ideas, either individually or in groups. Facilitators use techniques like mind mapping, round-robin, or SCAMPER to keep energy high and ensure all voices are heard. They also manage time and group dynamics to prevent dominance by a few individuals and to keep the discussion productive. After idea generation, facilitators help the team sort, prioritize, and refine concepts for actionable next steps.

How to brainstorm career ideas?

Brainstorming career ideas involves identifying your interests, skills, and values, then exploring related industries and roles through research, networking, and self-assessment tools. Writing down options and evaluating their requirements can help clarify suitable paths and set achievable goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a brainstorm facilitator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Brainstorm Facilitator, you need a solid understanding of creative problem-solving techniques, group dynamics, and often a background in facilitation or innovation-related fields. Familiarity with digital collaboration tools like Miro, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams, and possible certifications in facilitation or design thinking, are commonly beneficial. Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and the ability to encourage participation and manage diverse viewpoints are essential soft skills. These capabilities foster productive, inclusive sessions that generate actionable ideas and drive innovation within organizations.

Email Marketing Manager

Wallaroo Media

Provo, UT

Full-time

Re-posted 7 days ago

Job description

About the Role

Wallaroo Media is looking for a sharp, data-driven Email Marketing Manager to own our email channel from strategy through execution. You'll be the architect of lifecycle campaigns, automated flows, and broadcast sends that drive real revenue for our clients and internal brands alike.
This is a high-ownership role. You'll work at the intersection of creativity and analytics — crafting compelling copy one moment and interrogating A/B test results the next. We want someone who's as comfortable in a Klaviyo flow builder as they are in a brainstorming session, and who genuinely gets excited about open rates, deliverability, and the art of the subject line.

What You'll Do
  • Own the end-to-end strategy and execution of email marketing programs across multiple client accounts and Wallaroo's own brand portfolioBuild, optimize, and maintain automated flows in Klaviyo — welcome series, abandoned cart, post-purchase, win-back, VIP segments, and more
  • Write and edit compelling email copy that converts, from subject lines to CTAs, balancing brand voice with performance goals
  • Design and manage A/B tests on content, send times, segmentation, and flows; report on results with actionable takeaways
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate copy generation, personalization, segmentation logic, and performance analysis
  • Monitor list health, deliverability, bounce rates, and compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR) — and take proactive action when metrics drift
  • Collaborate with design, paid media, and content teams to ensure email is tightly integrated into broader campaign strategies
  • Develop and present monthly and quarterly performance reports with clear insights and forward-looking recommendations
  • Stay current on email marketing trends, ESP features, and AI tools that can improve results

Requirements

Klaviyo Expertise
  • 3+ years of hands-on Klaviyo experience managing high-volume ecommerce or DTC accounts
  • Deep fluency with flows, segmentation, conditional logic, and dynamic content blocks
  • Familiarity with Klaviyo's predictive analytics, product recommendations, and CDPs
  • Experience with Klaviyo integrations (Shopify, WooCommerce, Recharge, etc.)

AI Fluency
  • Practical, day-to-day experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Jasper, or similar) to accelerate copy and ideation workflows
  • Ability to write effective prompts that produce on-brand, on-brief content efficiently
  • Comfort using AI for data summarization, segmentation hypotheses, and performance narrative generation
  • A clear POV on where AI helps and where human judgment still leads

Content Creation
  • Proven ability to write high-performing email copy — promotional, transactional, and narrative-driven — across a variety of brand voices
  • Strong editorial instincts: you catch grammar, inconsistency, and off-brand phrasing before it sends
  • Experience briefing and collaborating with designers on email creative
  • Portfolio or examples of emails you've written and the results they drove

Analytics & Strategy
  • 4+ years of email marketing experience with measurable revenue or engagement results
  • Comfort with performance data: revenue attributed, open rate, CTR, CTOR, conversion rate, unsubscribe rate, and deliverability metrics
  • Experience running and interpreting A/B and multivariate tests
  • Familiarity with UTM tagging and cross-channel attribution

Nice to Have
  • Experience with SMS platforms (Attentive, Postscript, or similar) alongside email
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS for email template customization
  • Agency experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously
  • Background in ecommerce, retail, or subscription businesses
  • Experience with other ESPs: HubSpot, Mailchimp, Iterable, or Braze
