Job description

Job Summary

The Brain Circuits Laboratory, led by Drs. Steven Small and Ana Solodkin, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to join our team in precision network neurology, focusing on how risk factors contribute to brain aging. The work is situated within the framework of predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory (P4) neurology, and involves advanced brain imaging, dynamic functional connectivity, network neurobiology of language and memory, and dynamic network modeling.

The position is based in the Department of Neuroscience at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) and collaborates with the Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Salary is $60,000 DOE. The appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal, contingent on available funding and satisfactory performance.

Minimum Education and Experience

Ph.D. in a related field. Candidates who have completed all Ph.D. requirements but whose degree has not yet been formally conferred may begin employment upon submitting an official letter certifying completion and expected conferral date.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Cognitive Neuroscience, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or Physics
  • Record of at least two first‑author publications in high‑impact, peer‑reviewed journals
  • Strong background in human neuroscience, including computational and statistical methods
  • Experience with neuroimaging software tools and MRI data acquisition
Other Qualifications

Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2) is a minimum qualification for this position.

  • Develop and execute clinical research studies in precision neurology

  • Fluency with the Unix operating system and shell scripting
  • Fluency with scientific programming in Python, R, and/or MATLAB
  • Creative thinking skills and problem‑solving predisposition
  • Command of literature in neurobiology of language, memory, and/or neurodegeneration
  • Kindness and collaborative work ethic
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in English (written and verbal)
Remote Work

Following the probationary period, the role may be eligible for a partial hybrid schedule. Candidates must reside in the Dallas‑Fort Worth area and be able to report to campus with 24 hours notice.

Travel

Local travel for assessment or participant needs. Occasional travel for training, conferences, etc., may be required.
