Job description

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a potential need for a Neurologist to provide support for our government customer in Dayton, OH at Wright Patterson AFB.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct comprehensive occupational aeromedical neurologic chart reviews and clinical consultations on disqualified USAF aircrew with neurologic conditions requiring a waiver to return to operational duties in support of the Aeromedical Consultation Service.
  • Participate in clinical conferences and consult with other aeromedical specialists within the division and as needed to maintain clinical proficiency in aeromedical neurology.
  • Serve as an expert consultant or advisor as required in aeromedical neurologic matters while maintaining clinical proficiency in aeromedical neurology.
  • Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social or medical history in relation to neurological diagnoses as needed for evaluations performed to maintain clinical proficiency in aeromedical neurology.
  • Summarize clinical case evaluations of aircrew, special duty operations, and other individuals in written and verbal format as needed for evaluations performed to maintain clinical proficiency in aeromedical neurology.
  • Conduct FECN instruction/lectures via PowerPoint presentations to flight surgeons, aerospace physiologists, psychologists, and international flight surgeons in training at USAFSAM on results of FECN case reviews and clinical consultations and related research as applied to the delivery of aeromedical neurological consultations.
  • Design plans for scientific and statistical investigations regarding neurological diagnoses utilizing data from FECN research data determined to be relevant to teaching and consultative mission tasks and applicability to aerospace medicine and present findings at national and international conferences.
  • Collaborate with FECN professional colleagues and other FECN staff and organize review of scientific literature on neurological diagnoses and participate in discussion of same with FECN professional staff and contractors, as needed in support of clinical/teaching/study tasks.
  • Assure confidentiality of documents, communications and data (i.e., follow HIPAA and IRB requirements) related to all clinical and research tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
  • Required to be a fully licensed neurologist and board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with at least 10 years of experience, able to interpret clinical evaluations for aircrew, special duty operators, and other airmen required in support of consultation, teaching and research study projects.
  • Must maintain permanent, full and unrestricted state license to practice medicine, and must meet credentialing/accreditation requirements of the Wright-Patterson AFB Medical Group, TJC, MAJCOM HQ, and HQ USAF.
  • Must have experience working with and evaluating USAF personnel or other aviation or special duty personnel or have a minimum of one year of aeromedical neurology experience or equivalent occupational health experience.
  • Must be willing and able to sign a Non-Disclosure agreement.
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE
  • Must be a naturalized U.S. Citizen (Green card not acceptable)
  • Must be able to pass a Tier 1 background check.
