Job description

Objective / Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to lead the safe, efficient, and on-time production of quality material that meets customer requirements. Motivate, mentor, train, and model the Code of Conduct behavior in the production team.

Areas: Compounding, Recycling, Wash lines, Size Reduction, Blending & Pulverizing
Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below.
Leadership
  • Positively motivates his/her team to meet shift and business expectations.
  • Is the model of integrity, ethics, and safety.
  • Ensures the entire team is productively engaged.
  • Delegates and gives direction to ensure business results.
  • Gives positive feedback, constructive coaching, and applies discipline when necessary.
  • Communicates effectively through active listening, reflective thought, and providing constructive and positive direction.
  • Completes all business administrative requirements with accuracy and in a timely manner.

Safety
Responsible for the safety of his/her employees and the safe operation of the plant while on shift.
  • Models safety in his/her behaviors, conversations, and decisions.
  • Mentor and coach team on safety practices.
  • Responsible for safety huddles at the beginning of the shift.
  • Supervise team follows Ravago Life Safety Rules.
  • Supervise the use of PPE and following the PPE Matrix.
  • Engage team on the safe operation of fork lifts.
  • Directs housekeeping practices during the shift.
  • Supervise the prevention of pellet spills and any other environmental impact at the site.
  • Ensure the team is training according to the plan.
  • Reports in a timely manner any safety and environmental incident.
Quality
Ensures his/her team has a quality mindset and is responsible for product quality while on shift.
  • Lead team to produce quality product, on-time in accordance with production schedule.
  • Assist with / lead root cause investigations for Internal and Customer Corrective and Preventive actions.
  • Supervise the formula and testing integrity during the shift.
  • Reports and requests proper authorization for any material change.
  • Supervise with lab to ensure timely testing of blend properties and offline testing.
Productivity
Ensures the team is gainfully employed and productively producing product to meet shift/day/weekly and monthly production requirements.
  • Forms a complete team that can complete all aspects of running a shift. Requests assistance from site leadership when there are gaps which prevent his/her team from meeting business expectations.
  • Ensure all production activities are performed, documented, and completed to required standards of safety, completeness, accuracy, and timeliness. Is diligent in accounting for material and ensuring the work order process is followed.
  • Oversee, guide, and participate in shift training of all production employees and new hires.
  • Apply the RMA 7S for Success standards to the work area and all tasks.
  • Uphold the Ravago Code of Conduct standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Compounding Plant Manager.
  • Ability to make decisions based on facts.
  • Responsible for all production records completion:
    • Closing orders
    • Control Plans
    • Order preparation
    • Reporting
  • Responsible to execute changeovers first time right and improve response time.
Minimum Qualifications / Education / Certifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of Manufacturing (plastic preferred) supervisor experience.
  • Computer data entry skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal people management and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail oriented and ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Possess problem solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis.
  • Self-motivator.
  • Ability to operate a fork truck.
