The Seasonal Associate supports operational efficiency by performing a combination of administrative, material handling, and production tasks. This role integrates responsibilities across three core functions:
Clerk: Performs data entry and ensures cleanliness, organization, and order across work areas.
Material Handler: Executes physical tasks to efficiently move, store, and manage materials.
Operator: Safely operates non-forklift machinery (e.g., hydraulic press) in accordance with established procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required                                                            

High School Diploma or GED                                            
1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.                                            
Must speak fluent english.                                            
Good physical condition to handle demands of the job, inventory control, safety awareness.                                             
Leaf Point (Press Operators), General Equipment Operation, Quality Control, Safety.

Main Areas of Responsibility      

  • Data Entry:
    Scan barcodes on incoming and outgoing products to ensure accurate tracking.
    Identify and account for any missing product barcodes.
    Register materials accurately within the system.
    Collect forms and test results, entering all required data into the QIMs system.
    Use scales to measure test results or as required by assigned tasks.
    Review and validate data for accuracy and completeness prior to submission."                                                
  • Spare Parts Coordination:
    Store inventory in an organized and accessible manner across warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, and other designated areas.
    Receive and accurately count stock items, recording data manually or within system applications.
    Label and identify stock using tags, stamps, electronic marking tools, or other appropriate methods.
    Pack and unpack materials for storage in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
    Inspect inventory for wear, damage, or defects and promptly report findings to supervisors.
    Maintain cleanliness and organization of the parts room; support maintenance team inquiries as needed.
    Assist JTI staff with machine and facility repairs as required.
    Track and account for all spare parts issued or consumed."                                                
  • Buying Station Operations:
    Maintain effective communication with tobacco farmers.
    Manage and process farmers' payments.
    Verify accuracy of incoming data before submission.
    Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for various tasks."                                                
  • Picking:
    Remove stems, off-color tobacco, and foreign materials such as strings, dirt, and paper from  tobacco on the conveyor to ensure a clean and uniform product.
    Dispose of foreign materials in appropriate bins.
    Drop pickings into designated buckets based on the type of material (dark tobacco, green tobacco, tobacco with stems, or foreign material)."                                                
  • Hydraulic Press Operations:
    Operate the hydraulic press to compact tobacco into containers in accordance with safety and quality standards.
    Raise the press ram and remove filled containers safely and efficiently.
    Monitor and read scale measurements, making adjustments as needed to meet required weights.
    Prepare containers by inserting liners, folding flaps, and feeding units into the banding machine.
    Collect moisture samples as directed by the LeafPoint system for quality testing.
    Accurately enter production and sample data into the LeafPoint system.
    Ensure timely delivery of moisture samples to the Quality department using pneumatic transport, including proper completion of sample tickets."                                                
  • Sweeping Machine Operation: 
    Drive industrial sweeper to clean factory floors continuously.
    Ensure the sweeper is properly maintained and serviced.
    Discharge the sweeper dust collector into the appropriate disposal unit.
    Keep the machine clean and report any issues to the facilities maintenance team.
    Follow safety rules while operating the sweeper as per company policy."                                                
  • Wire Pulling:
    Cut wires opposite the knot of the Greenleaf bale.
    Remove cardboard slip sheets and wires from the bale at the cutting station.
    Place wires and cardboard in appropriate recycling bins.
    Remove any foreign material that could lead to tobacco contamination or equipment damage.
    Request stacks of tops and bottoms as needed.
  • Box Building:
    Inspect cartons for damage or contamination from suppliers before assembly.
    Assemble one top and one bottom to create a box.
    Add required kraft papers or chipboards for the given product.
    Attach the proper pre-printed belly tag for product identification.
    Place the box onto roller conveyors for packing.                                          
  • Cleaning:
    Maintain cleanliness and organization of the factory floor, including sweeping, mopping, and disposing of waste materials. 
    Sweep designated areas as a assigned by the JTI Department Lead. Remove foreign materials during sweeping, activities and discard them in appropriate bins. 
    Collect and dispose of floor sweepings into designated metal containers. 
    Shovel loose materials like sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or tobacco into machine hoppers or containers.
    Keep the area clean in accordance with the 5S3R policy."
