Job description

Surgical Physician Assistant - PA-C

Santa Ana, CA $122,300 - $153,200 a year

Elevate Your Career — Become a Surgical Physician Assistant in the Scenic Enclave of Southern California

Each operating room possesses its distinct rhythm — a melody of precision, trust, and communication flowing through its very core. As a dedicated Physician Assistant with a specialization in surgery, you understand the indispensable role you play not only in the OR but also at the bedside, during follow-ups, and behind the scenes, where the true essence of healing takes shape.

We are seeking a committed, detail-driven PA to join our surgical services team in a full-time capacity. In this role, you will work in close partnership with skilled surgeons and empathetic nurses, ensuring that each patient's surgical journey is smooth, coherent, and fundamentally focused on their well-being. Whether you are guiding a patient through educational steps before surgery or confidently passing instruments during a procedure, your influence will be felt each day — in a setting where your dedication and skills are genuinely appreciated.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough patient assessments, including physical evaluations and comprehensive medical history reviews
  • Assist in diagnosing surgical conditions through the interpretation of imaging studies and lab results
  • Work hand-in-hand with surgeons to develop and implement tailored surgical treatment plans for each patient
  • Provide intraoperative assistance, including the preparation of operating rooms, ensuring precise patient positioning, and passing surgical instruments as needed
  • Offer exceptional preoperative and postoperative care, covering medication administration, wound management, discharge planning, and patient education

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree from a recognized Physician Assistant program
  • Completion of clinical rotations with a focus on surgical practice is highly preferred

Certifications Required

  • Valid and unrestricted PA-C certification
  • Current certifications in BLS and ACLS required
  • State licensure (or eligibility) as a Physician Assistant

Essential Skills

  • In-depth understanding of surgical protocols and sterile techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret diagnostic tests and contribute to intricate clinical decisions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal strengths
  • Adeptness at thriving in high-pressure environments, particularly during surgical cases
  • Compassionate bedside manner with a profound respect for patients' dignity and choices

Our Benefits

  • Attractive salary along with performance-based incentives
  • Comprehensive health benefits inclusive of medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous paid time off, along with continued medical education reimbursement
  • Supportive environment with access to state-of-the-art equipment and resources
  • Opportunities for career growth within a dynamic and evolving healthcare organization

Your Contribution to the Surgical Experience

Being a Surgical Physician Assistant transcends mere technical proficiency; it is about bringing a state of calm assurance when unexpected challenges arise and providing solace when a patient's fear overshadows their hope. You will be actively engaged in the operating room while also serving as a reassuring presence in the corridors, discussing diagnoses, guiding families, and aiding patients in their next steps toward recovery.

Your collaboration will encompass everything from straightforward laparoscopic procedures to intricate inpatient surgeries. Yet, your influence extends beyond the OR — through follow-up visits, postoperative discussions, and long-term care strategies. Your input holds significance. Your clinical judgment is valued. Your voice carries weight in decisions both major and minor.

We are a team that respects your viewpoint and acknowledges that every successful surgery reflects a collective endeavor — built upon trust, humility, and unrelenting care.

Embrace a Lifestyle Beyond Work — Welcome to Santa Ana

Here, cultural diversity thrives alongside culinary innovation, and the arts encapsulate the spirit of innovation. Whether it's exploring the Spanish Revival architecture blocking the streets or indulging in diverse cuisines that span from classic Mexican fare to gourmet vegan options, this is a city that honors experience.

Your weekends can be spent immersing yourself in the local art scene — perhaps a stroll through the Bowers Museum or enjoying live performances at the historic downtown venues. Outdoor leisure? You can surf world-class waves along the coast or hike scenic trails in nearby national parks. The community here exudes warmth; conversations flourish over shared meals and local brews, where strangers become friends.

With a cost-effective living situation and a thriving job market, your financial security is maintained while you soak up the sun and revel in a work-life balance that prioritizes both your career and your personal life.

Whether you choose an urban loft reflecting a contemporary lifestyle or a cozy home near the park, Santa Ana welcomes you with open arms. The music landscape? Eclectic. The cuisine? A delicious mosaic of flavors. The people? A welcoming tapestry of individuals, each with their own story to share.

Who You Are: The Ideal Candidate

We seek a Physician Assistant who embraces challenge — someone who flourishes in demanding, high-acuity situations and finds purpose in careful preparation. You are a listener before a speaker, a supporter before a leader, and someone who learns from every experience just as much as you teach.

You might be in the early chapters of your surgical journey or an experienced veteran equipped with years of intraoperative expertise; either way, we prioritize your character over your credentials. If you possess a sharp intellect, a steady hand, and a genuine commitment to healing others, you will find your place here with us.

Join Us in Fulfilling Our Mission

This position is more than just employment; it is a calling — to empower individuals to regain their health, restore their capabilities, and return to lives filled with purpose.

Join a collective where every contribution is valued, each victory celebrated, and every patient regarded as a vital part of our community. If you are excited to share your surgical skills in a region that merges clinical excellence with authentic human connection, we look forward to welcoming you aboard.
