Job description

Operates conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines: lathes, grinders, milling machines, drill presses, and assembly stations to fabricate or assemble metallic and nonmetallic materials.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Standard Duties:

  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • Loading and unloading of CNC machinery or assembly stations.
  • Packing out finished material into dunnage.
  • Loading and unloading CMM/Measurement systems.
  • Cleaning and organizing of work areas (5S standards).
  • Move materials around as needed using pallet jacks, carts, etc.
  • Read and understand job aids/work instructions/standard work procedures and policies.
  • Perform required standard work steps within established cycle time.
  • Visually inspect and assemble small components to quality standards.
  • Use hand-held gauges.
  • Use appropriate hold tags to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedure.
  • Manually load, unload and/or maneuver materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves on foot and by hand as required.
  • Safely operate all equipment.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to be trained on and be able to perform all machining and assembly operations within the established processes and procedures.
  • Perform minor machine preventative care, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or work pieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoirs.
  • Support other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Safety, Health, and Physical Requirements:

  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. repetitively.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area in compliance with 5S.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Repetitive motion activities including but not limited to loading machines, unloading machines, standing, lifting, loading/unloading carts.
  • All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with the safety policies and procedures.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
