Description
About The Role:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, rapid prototype and full life cycle SW development for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to be part of our Advanced Capabilities team and based out of our Arlington, VA location.
 
We are seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to support DoD programs by deploying and maintaining secure virtualized infrastructure and enterprise applications. This role focuses on VMware-based environments, Linux system administration, and automated configuration using Ansible and Chef.
 
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing Linux-based systems, deploying applications into virtualized environments, and operating within DoD security and compliance frameworks.
 
Clearance & Location Requirements:
  • All applicants must currently possess an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • This is an on-site position. Requiring 5 days in office, based out of our Arlington, VA location.
 


Key Responsibilities:
What You Will Do:
  • Deploy and manage VMware environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
  • Administer and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in virtualized environments
  • Install, configure, and support enterprise applications on Linux-based systems
  • Automate system configuration and application deployment using Ansible, Chef, Terraform, and Packer
  • Build and maintain hardened Linux VM templates aligned with STIG requirements
  • Perform system patching, upgrades, and package management on Linux systems
  • Support application deployments across development, test, and production environments
  • Troubleshoot Linux OS, infrastructure, and application deployment issues
  • Work with cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance with RMF and DoD security standards
  • Document deployment procedures, configurations, and support ATO-related activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including program management, cybersecurity, software development, hardware engineering, logistics, and test organizations
  • Support system certification, verification, and validation activities in accordance with DoD standards

Skills Knowledge & Expertise
Who You Are (Required):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM field (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in deployment, systems, or infrastructure engineering
  • Experience with Linux/Unix-based environments and real-time operating systems
  • Strong experience with Linux system (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu)
  • Experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) including vSphere/ESXI auto deploy tools
  • Experience deploying applications on Linux-based virtual machines
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible, Chef, Terraform, or Packer
  • Experience with Linux scripting (Bash) and/or Python
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, PXE booting)
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Pay Range*: $90,000 - $150,000 or $114,000 - $184,000
This amount may not be reflective of actual compensation that may be earned as pay is dependent on a candidate’s experience, skills, and education. The posted range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits. IDT is often looking to place multiple candidates at various levels. Therefore, more than one pay range has been included, commensurate with experience.
