Cardinal Engineering Associates, Inc. a growing consulting civil engineering firm located in central Connecticut and celebrating its 64 th year in business has a position available for an experienced administrative assistant/bookkeeper/office manager.

Job Overview

Cardinal Engineering Associates, Inc. a Consulting Engineering firm located in Meriden, CT. is seeking an enthusiastic and efficient full-time Bookkeeper. This position will require you to manage numerous day-to-day activities which include but are not limited to the

following: managing accounts payable and receivables (including invoicing), track office expenses, maintain accurate records,

In addition to this, you should have excellent multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize and assign tasks. Having strong communication and negotiation skills will prove to be an advantage. Excel, MS Office, ADP, Bill Quick and QuickBooks proficiency is a must.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate financial records

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including preparation and posting of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.

Processing payroll through ADP

Manage accounts payables, receivables, and payroll

Track Work in Progress

Track project costs

Banking functions including bank reconciliations for various accounts including operating, pay roll, escrow.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Submit quarterly and annual tax and department of labor reports

Process Simple IRA contributions

Manage and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filing.

Maintaining and updating contact details of employees, clients and vendors
Renewal of health insurance, general liability, and professional liability insurance.

Sending, tracking, and managing new and existing contracts

Analyzing and processing bill payments

Prepare monthly invoices
Developing, updating, and implementing office procedures and protocols

Regularly update and disseminate the company’s policies and procedures as established in the employee handbook.

Filing of important documents
Assisting in setting up repairs/maintenance appointments for company equipment, computers, etc.


Qualifications

5 years minimum experience as an Accotant or Full Charge Bookkeeper

Associates Degree in Accounting or Business Administration

Quickbooks Certification
Solid understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles

Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

Experience with A/P, A/R, Invoicing, Preparation of Balance Sheets and P/L statements

Experience with Quarterly and Annual Tax Filings
Proficiency in Quickbooks, BillQuick, ADP, Excel, Pivot Tables, Word and related software
Excellent time management and organizational skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Detail-oriented and highly reliable individual
Strong client service skills

Engineering or Architectural  firm experience a plus
