Job description

Jennie Joiner with The Forum Group PNW is partnering with a long-established, family-owned agricultural operation in the Junction City area to recruit a Full Charge Bookkeeper / Farm Office Administrator. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced full-charge bookkeeper who enjoys working independently, taking ownership of their responsibilities, and being part of a hands-on agricultural environment. The position offers a 32-hour workweek, ideally spread across five days, with some flexibility around daily start and end times. The majority of the position is spent in a clean, comfortable onsite office, but this is not a traditional corporate office environment. The office is located directly on an active farm, and approximately 3% of the position requires being outside and around the operation.

What You'll Be Responsible For

This is a true full-charge bookkeeping and office administration position with responsibilities that include:

  • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Preparing journal entries and completing general ledger and bank reconciliations
  • Reviewing trial balances and assisting with financial reporting
  • Processing in-house payroll, including payroll taxes, quarterly and annual reporting, W-2s and 1099s
  • Assisting with annual budgeting and quarterly updates
  • Maintaining crop, bulk chemical and fuel inventory records
  • Managing fixed asset changes and vehicle licensing/reporting
  • Preparing documentation for the CPA and financial institutions
  • Completing new-hire paperwork and maintaining employee records
  • Partnering with centralized HR and benefits resources
  • Coordinating employee safety training, meetings and inspections
  • Assisting with commercial insurance administration
  • Completing required agricultural reporting
  • Maintaining office and filing systems, ordering supplies and managing mail
  • Handling miscellaneous administrative and operational needs as they arise

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of full-cycle bookkeeping and payroll experience or an associate degree in Accounting combined with applicable experience.

Key qualifications include:

  • Strong full-charge bookkeeping experience
  • Hands-on payroll processing experience
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles
  • AP, AR, journal entry and reconciliation experience
  • Financial reporting experience
  • Strong intermediate Excel skills
  • Ability to learn industry-specific accounting and payroll software
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to handle responsibilities outside of a traditional bookkeeping position
  • Genuine comfort working onsite at an active farm.

This is a salaried, 32-hour-per-week position with benefits. The preference is for someone to work onsite five days per week, with flexibility around the specific daily schedule as long as the hours remain consistent so employees know when the office is staffed.

This position is 100% onsite with no remote option. Benefits include medical, dental and life insurance, voluntary vision and additional life coverage, a 401(k) with employer match following eligibility, two weeks of PTO to start, and a small discretionary year-end bonus.

If you're an experienced full-charge bookkeeper who enjoys autonomy, likes the idea of a salaried, 32-hour workweek with benefits, and is genuinely comfortable working in an agricultural environment where you may occasionally trade office shoes for muck boots, reach out to Jennie Joiner directly to find out more or apply online today!
