Job description

SYNOPSIS


In this role, you will be a key player in our dynamic finance team to ensure the efficient financial management of our operations. Your expertise will contribute to the growth and success of our firm as we continue to provide exceptional legal services to our clients.

 

KEY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Handle accounts payables and accounts receivables, ensuring timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
  • Oversee the monthly client billing process, including the generation and distribution of approximately 100 detailed bills.
  • Perform bookkeeping duties and reconcile bank statements to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Assist in the financial integration of a small CA firm that we will be acquiring, ensuring smooth transition and consolidation of financial operations.
  • Prepare reports on attorney billing, origination, and income production, providing insights and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Develop and prepare financial projections, including cash flow forecasts and tax projections, to support strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Generate regular profit and loss (P&L) statements, analyzing financial performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the firm accountant to ensure compliance with quarterly and annual tax requirements, providing necessary financial data and assisting with tax preparation.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, reviewing current vendor partnerships and existing contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality of services.
  • Identify opportunities for optimizing vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely and satisfactory delivery of goods and services.

 

REQUIREMENTS


Required: A combination of relevant education, experience and training equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field. A CPA or CFA certification is a plus. The position also requires:

  • Mid-level (3-5 years) relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payables/accounts receivables, billing processes, bookkeeping, and financial reconciliation.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Proficient in using financial software and tools, such as accounting systems and spreadsheet applications, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis, including the preparation of financial projections and P&L statements.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. 


Preferred: This is a mid- to senior-level role that requires the ability to independently manage deadlines for multiple assignments in a fast-paced, detail-oriented office environment. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate:


  • Familiarity with tax regulations and experience in working with accountants to ensure compliance.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with attorneys, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Cultural competence interacting with prospective clients and staff from diverse backgrounds.

 

COMPENSATION AND TOTAL REWARDS


This is a full-time (40 hours per week), onsite, benefits-eligible position. We offer a generous total rewards package including:

  • Competitive pay, $95,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year, commensurate with years of post-graduate, professional and relevant experience.

  • This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus.
