Job description

Office Manager / Bookkeeper

Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Compensation: $50,000–$60,000 DOE
Schedule: Full-Time | In Office

About the Role

We are looking for a highly organized and proactive Office Manager / Bookkeeper to help support the day-to-day operations of a growing construction company.

This is a hands-on, multifaceted role that will combine office management, bookkeeping support, HR administration, and general operational support. The right person will enjoy variety, have strong attention to detail, and be comfortable stepping in wherever needed.

While bookkeeping experience is important, this role does not require someone with extensive accounting experience. Many of the financial responsibilities can be taught. We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in QuickBooks and general bookkeeping, who is organized, detail-oriented, and willing to learn the construction side of the business.

Construction bookkeeping experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Financial Support

  • Manage receipts, expenses, and transaction coding
  • Assist with client invoicing and financial recordkeeping
  • Review transactions for accuracy and help resolve discrepancies
  • Support payroll and other bookkeeping tasks as needed
  • Help maintain clean and organized financial records

Office & Administrative Support

  • Manage day-to-day office needs and administrative tasks
  • Assist with permits, registrations, and other company paperwork
  • Keep office supplies, records, and systems organized
  • Take ownership of miscellaneous tasks that help the business run smoothly
  • Manager/Schedule team events

Subcontractor & HR Administration

  • Onboard subcontractors and collect required documentation, including W-9s, insurance, and trade agreements
  • Follow up to ensure subcontractors remain compliant
  • Assist with employee onboarding and personnel records
  • Support HR administration, company policies, and payroll processes

What We're Looking For

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online
  • Previous bookkeeping, accounting support, office management, or administrative experience
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Proactive and comfortable figuring things out independently
  • Strong communication and follow-up skills
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a growing company

Who Will Thrive

We're looking for someone who takes initiative, notices what needs to be done, and enjoys creating organization and structure. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants a variety of responsibilities and the ability to grow alongside a company.
