About Us
Join a talented team of engineering professionals at Vogt Power International Inc. Vogt is based in Louisville, KY and specializes in the design, manufacture and supply of equipment and solutions to the power generation industry. We are an industry leader in heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) with both domestic and international customers.
Position Summary
The Thermal Engineer is an integral part of an HRSG project team. The Thermal Engineer's role is responsible for all process design calculations, pressure part design, and heat transfer calculations. The Thermal Engineer is also responsible for field performance testing of equipment to validate guaranteed thermal performance and to analyze existing equipment for performance and design improvements. This position requires interfacing and collaboration with multiple disciplines to achieve quality results.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Preparation of Thermal Design Book.
  • Review of technical proposal and customer specifications
  • Thermal and hydraulic design analysis for optimization.
  • Basic risk analysis/Liquidated Damages analysis.
  • Startup curves.
  • Performance correction curves.
  • Performance Test procedure.
  • Test data analysis and performance evaluation

Requirements
  • B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Demonstrates excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have a broad understanding of heat transfer, mass transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and the structural and mechanical principles of the product and be able to apply these disciplines to the product design.
  • Must be organized and able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously and respond quickly to requests.
  • Computer experience and knowledge of EXCEL, WORD, and other relevant packaged software.
  • Must have a valid passport and be able to travel when required.
