Job description

This position is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

POSITION OVERVIEW (non-exempt):

Assists management in directing all food preparation activities of the Dietary department. Prepare foods for patient room service trays and non-select patient meals. Responsible for the preparation of all foods necessary for cafeteria meals.  Will be responsible to work all positions expected of the Food service worker.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Familiarity with modified diets and/or be able to become Serv-Safe certified preferred.
  • Some experience in volume cooking in health care service preferred.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reports to Dietary Manager, Assistant Manager, or Supervisor

DIRECT REPORTS:

None

POSITION-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prepares food in sufficient quantity and quality, while meeting necessary regulations and following recipes.
  • Communicates with patients and JCHC staff to ensure the department is providing the menu items they desire and reports the feedback to the Director and Assistant Manager.
  • Attends all required departmental and hospital meetings & in-services.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, safe and properly functioning department.
  • Communicate inventory needs to Assistant Manager and Manager, based on current and future menus.
  • Contribute to menu development.
  • Assist where needed and as requested or required in the department.
  • Must have regular and punctual attendance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in a well-illuminated, climate-controlled environment
  • Some exposure to dietary chemicals.
  • Equipment may have sharp edges and have a hot surface.
  • Hot food and objects are also possible hazards.
  • Possibility exists of exposure to communicable diseases.
