Job Summary

Summary:  Perform diversified installation, operation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair duties for boilers and associated equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations within a healthcare setting.  Must also be able to acquire meter readings and work with a BMS platform to make necessary changes to the plant.  This is a 1st Shift 7am to 3:30pm M-F schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
   Receive work orders and coordinate work to fit daily schedule assigned by department director or designee
   Operate and maintain the facilities boiler/chiller systems, and related equipment and control systems to ensure optimal performance
   Monitor boiler operations and make adjustments as needed
   Respond to emergency calls from facility departments requesting immediate assistance for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration problems
   Perform preventive maintenance on related equipment assigned by the director or designee and reports deficiencies
   Maintain necessary stock and tools in order to maintain, repair equipment
   Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
   Coordinate repairs to boiler/chiller plant and related systems with other departments
   Conduct daily rounds of boiler/chiller plant and related equipment as assigned
   Respond to emergency call-in situations. 
   Report any deficiencies on specific jobs or equipment
   Assist other trades as required 
   Assist with facilities emergency events per policy
   Support and review the work of outside vendors
   Maintain mechanicals spaces per Quality Assurance Program
   Document work and keep accurate record of boiler operations and maintenance activities in the  Computerized Maintenance Management System
   Must complete safety and technical training as assigned by department director or designee
   Must wear appropriate PPE and other protective gear and equipment as required

Skills & Competencies:
   Knowledge of hydraulics and mechanical systems
   Experience with HVAC/R systems
   Ability to read schematics and technical manuals
   Proficiency in maintaining and operating boilers
   Customer Service/Interpersonal Skills
   Problem Solving skills
   Contributes to the success of the team
   Exhibits professionalism with customers, fellow employees, and others
   Some lifting of medium and/or heavy equipment and tools (max. of 50 lbs)
   Must have general knowledge of building maintenance, and the use of tools and basic maintenance supplies


Education / Certification(s):
   High School Diploma or GED
   2 years skilled trade or vocational school
   Boiler Operator License

Experience:
   Five years Plant Operator's experience within commercial, industrial or healthcare setting
   Valid unencumbered Driver's license
