Located in Morristown, TN 45 minutes northeast of Knoxville, Precision Boilers manufactures industry-leading electric and fuel-fired hot water boilers and steam generators plus a wide range of accessories such as deaerators and blowdown tanks. Founded in 1946, Precision Boilers' first product was the sump pump. Over the years the company has continued to grow and add new products including the industry recognized High Voltage Jet (HVJ) Electrode Boiler. What is the opportunity?

Reporting to the Supervisor, Production, your Plumbing expertise in assembling industrial boilers typically involves assembling, fitting, and installing piping systems, valves, and related components to ensure proper water, steam, and gas flow within the boiler system. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Cutting, threading, and bending pipes
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and piping schematics
  • Assembling and installing pressure-tested piping systems
  • Working with various pipe materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper
  • Ensuring compliance with ASME and other industry codes
  • Collaborating with welders and electricians to complete system installations
  • Follows work instructions and safety guidelines under supervision.
  • Assists with basic pipefitting tasks, including measuring and marking pipe layouts.
  • Gains familiarity with different types of pipes and fittings used in industrial boiler assembly.
  • Supports experienced plumbers by preparing materials, tools, and work areas.
  • Learns basic cutting, threading, and assembly techniques.
  • Works under close supervision to ensure proper alignment and fit-up of piping systems.

Education and Experience:

  • General plumbing knowledge
  • High School Diploma or GED.

One year certificate from college or technical school or a minimum of one year related experience, or 6 month with the department

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend schematics and blueprints (drawings).
  • Utilize calculators and basic math skills in all units of measure.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, schematic diagram, drawing, or schedule form.
  • Identify plumbing/welding symbols.
  • Ability to transfer information from drawings / wiring schematics to the project.
  • Incorporate any design changes into the project
  • Attendance โ€“ Regular attendance is critical and required for this position.
  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively
  • The candidate must be willing to work independently after proper training.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk or hear, and be able to tolerate repetitive motion during the full course of a scheduled shift.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move more than fifty (50) pounds.
  • Able to physically multitask.

Work Environment:

Most of his/her time, the employee will spend time in the plant with moderate exposure to noise, heat, and cold environment, other physical requirements include walking, bending, hand dexterity, speaking, seeing, and lifting/moving up to 20 pounds. Steel toe shoes, earplugs and safety glasses are always required while on the production floor.
