$22.10 - $28.70/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.


Overview
Works under the supervision of the Facilities Department Director. Performs preventive maintenance inspections on HVAC/Refrigeration equipment and systems. Troubleshoots failures and performs corrective maintenance on HVAC/Refrigeration equipment and systems. Installs, recognizes the cause of faulty equipment, makes repairs, modifies and relocates equipment on special purpose air conditioning and refrigeration units and systems. Reviews plans or specifications, determines the size, shape and location of equipment and installs or plans the installation to meet the conditions of the experiment or test. Modifies, alters, or substitutes components and elements of the system in order to meet specific conditions, and accomplishes repairs and modifications to meet conditions required. Diagnoses and corrects malfunctions in electronic pneumatic automatic control system circuits. Performs corrective actions on all types of pneumatic actuated valves, thermostats and associated controls in control air applications. Installs repairs and replaces pipes and fittings to maintain the heating, water, and drainage systems throughout the hospital. This includes, but is not limited to the heating hot water system, domestic water system, chilled water system and low pressure steam and condensate system. Ability to solder, sweat and braze. Prepares areas where piping work is to be performed by taking apart and securing current systems. Plans the installation of new piping by reading blueprints/schematics to determine how and where to place the piping. Fixes and/or replaces broken pipes and refrigeration/air conditioning equipment in a fashion that prevents leaks. Tests piping lines to ensure they can maintain the proper amount of pressure. Fixes steam systems/boilers by repairing pumps and heat exchanges, removing and replacing coils and replacing valves and associated equipment. Ability to operate a computer and use computer software. Subject to on-call coverage, shift changes and emergency 12 hour shifts (i.e. snow removal, hurricane clean up, etc. ). Snow removal/storm clean-up includes, but is not limited to shoveling and cleaning of entrance ways, walkways and parking lots of snow, ice and/or debris. Assists with the clean-up of spills. Performs basic electrical, plumbing, painting and carpentry work. Responsible for the installation, maintenance (preventive and corrective) troubleshooting and repair of facility buildings and equipment. Renovations to rooms and apartments. Work with other departments on special assignments. Assists other Facilities Department personnel on facility repairs/projects.
What you will do

  • Responsible for operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, charges systems with Freon of proper type to proper pressure or weights, troubleshoot systems, performs preventative maintenance of systems, remove and replace units. Maintains control of HVAC systems using computer trace system. Chemically and thermally welds; and non-lead solders pipes and fittings. Responsible of HVAC systems for off site facilities.
  • Team member has extensive knowledge of all the facilities mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical) and the ability to troubleshoot, repair and operate those systems.
  • Assists co-workers with the care of their customers; addresses customer's needs regardless of assignment. Assists others to complete tasks when necessary. Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a work environment that reflects performance improvement and customer service program in accordance with our mission statement.
  • Ability to respond with flexibility to changes and adapts to varying work assignments. Works scheduled hours, arrives to work on time and is ready to perform duties at the beginning of scheduled shift. Maintains a good attendance record in accordance with policy.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with the contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, and consultants to projects, portraying a positive image of Riverside Health System. Promotes the mission of RHS, policies and interpersonal relations, physicians, customers and other departments.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of regulatory requirements. Successfully completes and applies annual requirements for mandatory and skills competencies within required time frame. Participates in staff meetings and departmental in-services, training and continuing education provided. Completes required documentation.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and accomplish assignments with accuracy and timeliness (meeting work schedules, work assignments completed by deadlines, receives minimal customer complaints). Patient complaints and/or concerns receive the highest priority and are responded to immediately.
  • Maintains a safe patient care environment by consistently complying with RHS, DNV, CMS, State and other related regulatory standards to ensure the safety of patients/residents, visitors and staff. Follows guidelines for proper body mechanics, hazardous materials handling and universal precautions to prevent accidents and injuries. Maintains a safe work area. Responds appropriately as Protection to codes.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision. Ensures work area is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Resident complaints and/or concerns receive the highest priority and are responded to immediately.


Qualifications
Education

  • High School Diploma or GED, High school or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Program Graduate, Trade (Preferred)


Experience

  • Less than 1 year Experience in commercial or residential HVAC or completion of approved apprenticeship in HVAC (Required)


Licenses and Certifications

  • Board for Contractor Tradesman - Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (Preferred)
  • Chlorofluorocarbons Certification (CFC) - Professional Service Association (Required)
  • Drives personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time to perform essential functions of the job
  • Operates company vehicles as essential function of the job
  • Valid Drivers License Required
