Job description

Primary Role:
A Back of House (BOH) Floor Manager is responsible for overall shift operations, customer experience, sales performance and execution of brand standards. BOH Floor Managers are responsible for running shifts and managing the BOH staff on-shift to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. The BOH Floor Manager is expected to follow, train and coach all Homeroom policies and procedures to all Team Members (TMs).
Essential Functions:
People + Culture
  • Is an ambassador for Homeroom's TRIBE values
  • Recognizes and rewards outstanding TM performance
  • Trains and on-board new Team Members on Homeroom's BOH procedures
  • Coaches, councils and directs TMs
  • Provides constructive performance feedback to TMs, including writing and delivering corrective action documents
  • Actively participates in weekly management meetings
  • Manages the employee schedule on a shift basis, by adding, reducing or covering shifts when necessary
  • Ensures that CA break policies and scheduling requirements are adhered to
  • Conducts daily pre-shift (stand up) meetings with TMs on-shift
  • Writes and facilitates annual reviews and 60-day Check-ins for staff
  • Trains and enforces safety practices to prevent and/or manage work injuries
  • Engages in two-way communication by effectively communicating needs, ideas, concerns to improve Homeroom
  • Facilitates communication with FOH staff to support Total Teamwork

Operations
  • Responsible for effectively running opening, mid and closing shifts
  • Remains calm under pressure, and can organize work with competing demands
  • Must have excellent knowledge of Homeroom's products and menu
  • Opens or closes the restaurant as required
  • Maintains BOH cleanliness
  • Ensures effective product management including: product quality, recipe adherence, portion control, Cost of Goods management, and waste tracking
  • Performs BOH maintenance (fixtures, equipment, electrical issues, etc.)
  • Knows and ensures CA Food Safety Standards are met by all TMs, including: FIFO, dating, temps, proper product storage, food handling and avoiding cross contamination.
  • Follows daily deployment plans and ensures they are executed on every shift

Guest Service
  • Delivers best in class customer service
  • Ensures quality, accuracy and service times are at or above standards
  • Addresses customer complaints that pertain to BOH

Business Management
  • Operates with a sales mindset and looks for ways to build sales
  • Effectively manages COGS through proper portioning/ recipe adherence, waste management and effective ordering
  • Manages labor costs adjusting the schedule to meet business needs

Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be able to work 20-40hours a week
  • Minimum 1 year in a supervisory kitchen role
  • Able to work holidays, weekends, events and other peak periods of the restaurant business
  • Provides leadership that inspires teamwork, generates energy and enthusiasm, and drives results
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and regularly lift 30-40 lbs throughout an assigned shift
  • Ability to walk outside between Homeroom's two restaurants (1 block apart) regularly throughout an assigned shift
  • High School graduate, or equivalent
  • Has experience working in a high-volume restaurant ($3M-5M+ annually), preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
