Job description

Special Mission Systems Senior Structural & Payloads Engineer

Company:

Boeing Phantom Works is seeking a Senior Structural and Payloads Engineer for the Electro-Magnetic Verification Facility (EMVF) and other proprietary programs. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers to ensure the successful design, manufacturing, and verification of the EMVF. This position is located in Tukwila, WA.

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security EMVF program is charted to build the world's most advanced radio frequency verification facility. The EMVF will be used to verify production air vehicles against customer requirements. The EMVF team is a cross functional, highly skilled, motivated group embracing the beliefs that focused safety, execution, LEAN manufacturing and business practices will secure our future and well-being, driving our product to be the seeker of choice for the EMVF program and future generations of weapon systems.

Objectives of the EMVF project are to build, test and verify a large test for production verification testing of air vehicles.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Establish a culture of proactive technical discipline, risk management and rapid issue resolution, providing alternative paths for issue resolution and an open dialogue on technical issues

  • Lead requirement, function, and interface development for the EMVF

  • Oversee the design of products provided in support of development, production, and sustainment changes

  • Present data for the product at Design Reviews, product Acceptance and Qualification Reviews, and Delivery Reviews as required

  • Guide technical path for product definition and execution

  • Drive IPT to a position of System Integration for EMVF- drive coordination between IPT and Program technical staff

  • Accountable to IPT Lead, EMVF CE and respective Program CEs

  • Technical authority over the development, design, production, and test of the assigned EMVF

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

  • 5+ years leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team in development or production environments

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain Special Program Access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with executing engineering in support of program milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.)

  • Engineering experience on development and production programs

  • Experience supporting or managing engineering release processes

  • Experience mentoring early career engineers
