Job description

Brandt is currently seeking a Truck Technical Specification Engineer located in our London or Ayr Peterbilt location. The Technical Specification Engineer will be responsible for developing, writing, and maintaining accurate specifications for Peterbilt trucks for our customers along side the Sales Manager and Territory Managers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of regional weights and dimensions regulations, truck specifications, truck body installations, functionality, and components, along with excellent writing and communication skills. This role plays a critical part in supporting the sales team, service department, and customers by providing clear and comprehensive technical guidelines when ordering Trucks in various applications for our customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the sales and service teams by clarifying technical specifications and troubleshooting documentation-related inquiries from Territory Managers, customers and service departments.
  • Support the sales team by accompanying them on customer visits to investigate customer needs, requirements, and preferences, ensuring specifications are appropriately tailored to their application.
  • Ensure consistency in terminology and formatting across all specification documentation.
  • Work with the preferred Body Builders to optimize functional specifications in each industry, giving us a competitive advantage while following best practices in technical writing.
  • Regularly update specifications in line with product changes, new models, industry regulations and corporate spec change orders from Peterbilt.
  • Assist in training the sales staff on the use and comprehension of technical documents; ensuring all users have access to the necessary resources to continuously improve knowledge of the specifications in each industry.
  • Review and edit existing specifications to ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness, incorporating feedback from technical experts and body upfitters.
  • Assemble clear and concise Peterbilt specifications including user manuals for end users, and preventive service guides for various Peterbilt truck models from Truck upfitters documentation and Peterbilt’s library, ensuring adherence to industry standards and MTO regulations.
  • Create charts, diagrams, and other visual aids to enhance training and the understanding of technical specifications and presentations.
  • Collaborate with Peterbilt Engineers, district Sales Managers, and the sales team to gather accurate information about heavy truck specifications and features in the various industries.
