POSITION SUMMARY
The World Languages Instructional Coach is a district-level position supporting the K12 world languages program. This position works closely with the coordinator to support curriculum and instruction, coach world languages teachers, professional learning, and other program initiatives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree
- Master's degree preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
- Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Teaching or Leadership Certi?cation in world language within 12 months of hire
- Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation, or ability to attend off-site meetings
WORK EXPEREINCE:
- 3 years of classroom experience teaching world languages required
- Experience in second language acquisition, curriculum, and assessment development required
- Experience in developing and implementing professional learning on world languages related topics preferred
- Experience in organizing study abroad and/or foreign exchange preferred
- Experience in K12 education or public sector preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Understanding of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL)
World Readiness Standards, Pro?ciency Levels, Core Practices, and Guiding Principles
Knowledge and understanding of standards-based curricula using the ACTFL World Readiness Standards, Core Practices, and research-based instructional strategies for pro?ciency-based instruction
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction and best practices of instructional leaders, current educational research, and best practices in second language acquisition
Knowledge of analyzing formative and summative K-12 world language data
- Knowledge of technology integration into instructional lessons that meet the unique cultural and linguistic needs of the world languages classroom

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Builds the instructional capacity of teachers and leaders to implement world language standards and ACTFL Core Practices that promote student language pro?ciency and engagement
- Coaches and supports K12 world language teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies, proficiency-based practices, and culturally responsive pedagogy
- Develops, reviews, and revises curriculum resources, including frameworks, pacing guides, units of study, common assessments, and exemplar lessons aligned to district standards and language acquisition best practices
- Designs, facilitates, and supports high-quality professional learning focused on second language acquisition, proficiency-based instruction, and effective world language pedagogy
- Supports the implementation and continuous improvement of K12 world language programs to ensure equitable access and high-quality instructional experiences
- Assists the Coordinator of World Languages in planning and coordinating co-curricular and extracurricular programs, ?eld experiences, study abroad opportunities, and international exchange initiatives
- Facilitates model lessons, instructional demonstrations, peer observations, and collaborative learning opportunities to strengthen instructional practice
- Collects, analyzes, maintains, and reports program data to monitor implementation, measure effectiveness, and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Organizes and manages instructional resources, program materials, and digital tools to support world language instruction and district initiatives
- Collaborates with school and district leaders, teachers, families, and community partners to promote world language programs and advance multilingualism and global competence
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site during regular business hours and as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or their representative
PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods
- Hearing: Ability to tolerate exposure to noisy conditions
- Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer
- Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head
- Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbent may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict
- Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors
- Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.
