Position Summary (in one or two sentences, describe primary purpose of job):

Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of semi-skilled and skill work in the care and maintenance of

landscaped areas. Duties include the care of lawns, shrubs, and trees, flower beds, snow removal and outside

maintenance. Operates a variety of machinery and equipment including, tractors, dump truck, end loader, hydraulic

mower, sweepers, aerators, skid loader, chain saw, and a variety of power hand tools.

Performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the

mission, vision and values.

Principal Accountabilities and Essential Functions of the Job

1. Operate a variety of machinery and equipment including, tractors, dump truck, hydraulic mower,

sweepers, aerators, skid loader, chain saw and a variety of power hand tools, end loader.

Operates equipment required for grounds and roadway maintenance including hand held power

tools, various mowers, tractors, construction equipment, snowplows and heavy equipment.

Maintains roadways and parking lots.

Constructs and maintains a wide variety of landscapes including lawns, trees, shrubs,

ornamental plantings, and turf grass. 45%

2. Maintains grounds by mowing, edging, weeding, raking leaves, and checking watering levels.

Installs sod and maintains sprinklers and equipment.

3. Snow removal.

Clears public areas, parking lots, parkways and some roads of ice, snow or debris with the use

of plow trucks, snow throwers, hand tools and light equipment.

Removes snow from sidewalks, roads and parking lots operating all required equipment.

4. Under supervision, prepares and applies hazardous chemicals for pest and disease control on

trees, shrubs, bushes, and turf.

Knows and can demonstrate departmental emergency procedures for fire, disaster and other

High School or Equivalent (GED) 3 - 4 years -

High School plus specialized training 5 - 7 years - 5-10 years' experience in soil and turf management, landscape design, and large snow operations.

(min. 6 months - 2 years): 8 - 10 years -

Associate Degree: 10 - 15 years -

Bachelors Degree: > 15 years -

Masters Degree: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities required: (i.e. supervision, computers, etc.) Basic language, basic math, basic reasoning ability. Word, Excel, Internet. Must have mechanical aptitude.

PhD:

MD/DO

Other: Requires the ability to read, write or understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing their job duties. Horticulture degree preferred.

Certification/Licensure Required for Job:

Pesticide Applicator's license required for all full-

time staff, must obtain within 6 months of hire and

must renew by March 1st each year. Valid IA
