Job description

Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, professional Armed Gatehouse Officer to support safety and security operations within an upscale country club community in Boca Raton. The ideal candidate is disciplined, attentive, and committed to providing high level security and exceptional customer service. This role involves performing duties that include access control operations, conducting foot or vehicle patrol, securing equipment and people, performing surveillance, utilizing gatehouse technology, completing detailed reports, responding effectively to emergency situations, and preventing criminal activity all while maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with residents and guests.
Logistics and Compensation
• Location: Boca Raton, FL
• Job Type: Full-time
• Pay Rate: $19.32 to $20.83 per hour
Availability & Schedules
• Schedule: Monday and Tuesday 1500-2300; Saturday and Sunday 0700-1500 (32 Hours)

Specific Duties and Essential Functions
• Conduct armed foot and/or vehicle patrols (interior and exterior) to watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems to ensure constant site awareness.
• Sound alarms or call police/fire departments immediately in the event of fire, medical emergencies, or the presence of unauthorized persons.
• Respond promptly to all incidents, emergencies, and disturbances on the property.
• Permit authorized persons to enter property by verifying guest/vendor credentials and monitoring all entrances and exits.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, while ensuring all property rules and post orders are strictly enforced.
• Investigate and prepare detailed reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
• Maintain comprehensive daily activity logs to ensure all shift events are documented for management.
• Provide high-level customer service by aiding residents, members, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Act as a visual deterrent to crime while maintaining a safe and secure environment for all patrons.
Licensing
• Possess valid Florida Class D and G security licenses
• Possess valid Driver's License
Minimum Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 21 years of age or older
• Ability to pass background screening and drug test
• Ability to pass a mental health assessment

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
• Indoor and outdoor assignments. Exposure to various weather conditions
• Major Activities: Extended standing, walking, and sitting. Listening, observing, communicating
• Environmental Exposure: Ability to perform duties in both indoor and outdoor settings. Must be capable of working in diverse weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain, for extended periods.
• Hazardous Conditions: Occasional exposure to high-stress situations, including responding to emergencies or physical disturbances.
• Stationary & Mobile Positions: Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing), walk for extended periods, traverse the property, or move between posts for the duration of an 8-hour shift, or as operationally required. Must be able to maintain constant alertness and professional posture throughout the assigned period.
• Patrol Requirements: Ability to continuously walk on various surfaces including pavement, grass, and uneven terrain while conducting interior and exterior rounds.
• Emergency Response: Must be able to react quickly to emergency situations, which may include running, climbing stairs, or navigating obstacles.
• Sensory Abilities: Must have the visual acuity to monitor CCTV and observe surroundings, and the auditory ability to respond to alarms and communicate via two-way radio or telephone.
• Physical Maneuverability: Frequent reaching; occasional squatting, kneeling, or stooping to inspect vehicles or property.
• Lifting & Strength: Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or move up to 50 pounds. This is typically required only in response to emergency situations, the relocation of safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, traffic cones), or the removal of hazards from the property.
• Effective Communication: Ability to clearly exchange information, provide instructions, and draft written reports in English.
• Cognitive Load: Must maintain mental alertness and attention to detail during long periods of observation.
