Job description

A Folder Gluer Operator sets up, operates, and maintains machinery that folds, glues, and finishes paperboard packaging to meet quality and production standards. Key duties include adjusting feeders, glue systems, and folding stations, troubleshooting machine issues, ensuring accurate, high-speed production, and maintaining a safe, clean work area.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Machine Setup (Make-Ready): Configure the folder-gluer for different types of die cut forms (2 and 3 panel) based on job specifications.
  • Operations: Run machinery at capacity while minimizing waste of glue and sheet stock.
  • Quality Control: Monitor production, checking for proper folding, glue application, and affixing defects.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Documentation: Complete production reports, data logs, and maintenance records.
  • Safety: Adhere to safety, sanitation, and GMP standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Previous experience operating folder-gluer equipment (e.g., Signature, Bobst, etc) is typically required.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to troubleshoot equipment and make minor to medium repairs
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40-50 lbs.
  • Technical Skills: Understanding of folding techniques, adhesive application, and quality standards.
  • Ability to train and learn cameras and detection systems

  • Ability to train and learn insertion / affixing on to blanks to be folded and glued

  • Ability to train and learn data, sequencing, product labeling, etc

Common Physical Requirements

  • Standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and lifting heavy boxes of product.
  • Working in a manufacturing environment with moderate to semi-high noise levels.
