Job Description: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
Reports To: OR Nurse Manager/Director of Surgical Services
Position Summary: FULL TIME and PRN positions available. All positions have on call time weekly/monthly requirements.
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) at Blue Mountain Hospital is a vital member of our surgical team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. .
Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs before, during, and after surgery. Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Preparation: Prepare and maintain the operating room for surgery, including the setup of sterile instruments and supplies, ensuring that all necessary equipment is available and functioning properly.
Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other members of the surgical team to ensure seamless care during surgical procedures.
Monitoring: Monitor patients' vital signs, levels of consciousness, and overall well-being during surgery. Respond promptly to any changes in patient condition.
Documentation: Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including pre-operative assessments, intraoperative care, and post-operative recovery, in accordance with hospital policy.
Sterilization: Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
Education: Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, post-operative care, and any other necessary information related to the patientโs care.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and hospital policies, including those related to patient safety, quality care, and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
Licensure Required: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Utah.
Experience Required: 1-2 years of Operating Room Experience PRE-OP, PACU, Intraop
BSN preferred
Surgical scrub experience preferred
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, certification required.
Skills: Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and make quick, sound decisions.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for very long extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform physically demanding tasks. Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies.

Any tasks, projects, or actions that are reasonably within the scope of the Employeeโs position or employment, which the Employeeโs supervisor, any member of BMHโs management, or BMHโs administration teamโasks of the Employee. Tasks, projects, or actions are โreasonably within the scopeโ of the Employeeโs employment or position unless the same are so far removed therefrom that no legitimate argument can be made that such tasks, projects, or actions are in any way related to BMH or the Employeeโs employment or position within BMH.
Act as professionally as should normally be required in a medical organization. This shall include giving all appropriate respect and deference to licensed medical providers and behavioral health providers (hereafter jointly referred to as โProvidersโ). Providers include, but may not be limited to physician assistants, nurse practitioners (or similar), and Physician Assistants.
Refrainโwhatsoeverโfrom intentionally, purposely, knowingly, or negligently engaging in any conduct, actions, or speech that may cause concern, apprehension, confusion, or annoyance on the part of any BMH patient toward BMH as an organization or any BMH employee.
Work congenially and cooperatively at all times with all other BMH employees. This includes maintaining a pleasant demeanor and attitude and executing position duties and administrationโs/managementโs other requests in a timely manner, diligently, and with a positive attitude. This requirement further includes refraining from personally degrading any other person or BMH employee. As part of this requirement, the Employee must refrain from engaging in gossip about any BMH employees and/or patients.
Communicate complaints about BMH, its policies, procedures, managers, administrators, and/or other employeesโonly to and through the appropriate BMH channels, which are limited to BMHโs management chain of command. No complaints, judgments, or degrading comments about BMH, its policies, procedures, managers, administrators, and/or other employeesโshould be shared with anyone other than the appropriate persons within BMHโs management chain of command who have the ability to work to remedy any related problems. Unless the Employeeโs direct supervisor is part of the problem or complaintโproblems and complaints should first be voiced to the Employeeโs direct supervisor and upward therefrom through BMHโs internal management chain of command as appropriate and necessary. It is an absolute dereliction of this duty by the Employee if the Employee everโdirectly or indirectly (in conjunction or planning with others)โmakes complaints or problems publicly known to anyone other than BMHโs management team or administrative team (neither include BMH Board Members).

This requirement remains applicable and shall stand regardless of whether the information being requested is of a private or public natureโif the information sought fits any of the above listed types. Finally, this requirement remains applicable at all times, including when the Employee is off duty or away from BMHโs premises.
