Bandera ISD is looking for a qualified Behavior Management Classroom (BMC) Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

Reports to: Campus PrincipalÂ
Primary Purpose:
The Behavior Management Classroom (BMC)Â Teacher provides direct instructional and behavioral support, interventions, and consultation services to students with disabilities who exhibit significant behavioral challenges. This role supports campuses in implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and evidence-based instructional strategies aligned with IEPs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in special education or a related fieldÂ
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in Core Subjects with STR and Special Education EC-6Â
- Certification or training in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) or equivalent preferred
-Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of behavioral principles, classroom management, and instructional strategies for students with disabilities
- Understanding of FBA/BIP development and implementation
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in special education settings
- Experience with behavior intervention strategies and Tier 3 supports
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Behavior Intervention and Support
- Provide direct behavioral support to students with intensive behavioral needs.
- Collaborate with staff to develop and implement Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Collect, analyze, and report behavioral data to inform decisions and adjust interventions.
- Model effective behavior strategies in classrooms and coach teachers on implementation.
Direct Instructional Support
- Provide targeted academic instruction aligned with students' IEP goals and objectives.
- Support students in inclusive and specialized settings to promote skill generalization.
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers to align instructional methods with behavioral goals.
- Adapt curriculum and materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students with behavioral challenges.
Collaboration and Consultation
- Serve as a behavior resource for special education and general education teachers.
- Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and contribute to IEPs and BIPs.
- Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, and families to develop consistent behavioral supports.
Training and Capacity Building
- Â Provide professional development and on-the-job coaching to campus staff on behavior management and de-escalation.
- Support the implementation of campus-wide and classroom-level PBIS frameworks.
Student Support and Management
- Develop supportive environments conducive to learning, emphasizing positive reinforcement and social-emotional growth.
- Intervene in behavioral crises using non-violent, trauma-informed strategies in alignment with district policy.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate documentation related to student behavior, supports, and progress.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, district policy, and state and federal guidelines regarding behavior supports.
Other Duties
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and district behavior support initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal and Director of Special ProgramsÂ

- Physical Demands: May include physical intervention, lifting, and movement throughout the day
- Environment: Travel between campuses; exposure to students with challenging behaviors
