Overview
We currently have an outstanding opportunity for Respiratory Therapists to join our team in caring for medically fragile and complex pediatric patients and residents. Blythedale's Respiratory Therapy Department is known for its collaborative and evidence-based approach. Our team of experienced respiratory therapists and residents provides excellent quality care 24/7. We pride ourselves on innovation and excellence, continually seeking the newest technologies and adhering to current clinical guidelines.
Bonus pay: per diem Respiratory Therapists are eligible for bonus pay for working extra shifts each month.
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality respiratory care to pediatric patients with complex medical needs.
  • Serve as a consultant to nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Ensure that care delivery and clinical protocols reflect evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing departmental education and training.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years experience rendering direct professional cardio pulmonary care in a hospital or healthcare setting, pediatric experience preferred.
  • Experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) preferred.
  • Long Term Care experience preferred.
  • New Graduates with RRT will be considered with References from at least two clinical instructors.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle a variable workload.
  • Working knowledge of computerized software programs.
  • Shifts: Day shift 7am-7:30pm, Night shift schedule 7pm-7:30am, includes weekends, rotating holidays.

Education, Licensure, and Certification
  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Respiratory Therapy; Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) preferred.
  • Active New York State Respiratory Therapist license.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the NBRC.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications through the American Heart Association.

Physical Requirements
  • On feet most of day patient care/moving high pressure cylinders/equipment.
  • Lifts supplies/equipment.
  • Requires visual acuity and manual dexterity to maintain the airway and manually ventilate the patient during Code Blue.
