Overview

Blythedale Children's Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our dedicated team. This position involves evaluating and providing therapy for medically complex pediatric patients, from birth to 18 years old, with a wide range of diagnoses. The Speech Language Pathologist will develop and implement effective treatment plans, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and offer counseling to patients and families to support long-term outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluation and therapy for complex medical children, ages birth to 18 years old, with varied diagnoses.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment programs.
  • Provide counseling to patients and families regarding test results and establish treatment goals.
  • Create accurate documentation and reporting for all patient visits in an electronic medical record system.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings with medical staff and the child's educational team.
  • Familiarity with a variety of speech, feeding, and cognitive disorders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to comply with all regulatory standards.
  • Second language proficiency is desired.
  • Highly flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
  • Pediatric experience required
Education, Licensure, and Certification
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Active New York State SLP license required.
  • ASHA certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in the English language. 
  • Ability to visually and auditorially monitor patient status and provide hands on intervention techniques.
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients safely,
  • Ability to lift, pull, carry, bend, crouch, and balance patients from light to heavyweight.
