Job description

Who We Are

At Roadpost, we've spent years building trust with people who need to stay connected beyond cell coverage, in the world's most remote places. That work led to ZOLEO, our global messaging platform powered by the Iridium satellite network, used by adventurers, remote workers, and enterprise teams operating off-grid. The impact is real. Ask the people whose lives were changed by a ZOLEO rescue alert (read their stories).
Today, we're building the next chapter. ZOLEO is evolving from a hardware-led satellite communicator into a safety and preparedness platform, one that combines intelligent monitoring, automation, and real-time visibility to give people and their Safety Circles confidence when it matters most. We're just getting started, and we want people who want to build it with us.

Why This Role Matters

The ZOLEO mobile app is how customers stay connected beyond cellular coverage. It powers messaging, check-ins, location sharing, SOS, and Device management – often in places where no other communication is available. For many users, the app is their primary experience of ZOLEO.

As a Senior Software Engineer, Mobile, you'll design and deliver production-ready experiences across iOS and Android, partnering closely with Product and Design to solve complex customer problems. You’ll help shape engineering practices, improve quality through automation and shift-left testing, and provide technical leadership across the team.

This is an AI-first engineering environment where tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and agentic workflows are part of everyday development. You'll use them to build, test, and iterate more effectively while helping the team evolve practical, high-impact engineering practices.

What's In It for You
  • Real Users, Real Impact. Your work ships to a global user base that depends on ZOLEO in some of the most challenging environments on earth. The features you build and the reliability you improve will have a direct, measurable impact on how customers stay connected.
  • Broad Mobile Product Scope. Work across the full mobile product, from native iOS and Android experiences to business logic, connected-device functionality, and release readiness. You’ll own features from concept through production.
  • An AI-First Engineering Culture. AI-assisted development is part of everyday engineering. You’ll use modern AI tools to accelerate design, development, testing, and debugging while helping the team adopt effective ways of working.
  • Quality Built In, Not Bolted On. We practice shift-left engineering: where testing, automation and observability are built into development from the start – not added at the end.
  • Growth Through Collaboration. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers across IOS, Android, and connected products in an environment where strong technical ideas are valued. As a senior engineer, you’ll also help mentor and grow those around you.
What You'll Do
  • Build Polished, Performant Mobile Experiences. Design and build native interfaces in SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose that are fast, accessible, and intuitive. You will contribute to a high standard for mobile UI that is polished, accessible, and reliable.
  • Build Features End-to-End. Design and build mobile product features across UI, business logic, data, off-line aware behavior, and platform integrations, with a clear focus on reliability and real-world conditions.
  • Build Reliable Connected-Device Experiences. Design and improve the mobile experience for Bluetooth-connected ZOLEO devices, including pairing, messaging, location sharing, SOS, and device management, ensuring dependable performance in real-world conditions.
  • Ship with Confidence. Practice shift-left quality: write unit and integration tests as standard across mobile code, contribute to UAT and E2E automation via Appium or Maestro, and strengthen the team's automation and release-quality practices. You will contribute to releases that are stable, observable, and safe to ship.
  • Strengthen the Pipeline. Improve and maintain the CI/CD that Keeps releases fast, predictable, and reliable through GitHub Actions, Fastlane, automated linting, and static analysis.
  • Leverage AI Throughout Development. Use agentic AI tools as a core part of your workflow from scaffolding, generating tests, exploring approaches, and accelerating iteration. You will contribute to the AI-assisted practices the team adopts.
  • Collaborate Across the Product. Work closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to turn requirements into well-shaped solutions and bring non-engineers along with the technical decisions that matter.
What You Bring

You do not need to have worked across every part of the mobile stack already; strong candidates may come from deep iOS, deep Android, or full-stack mobile backgrounds. What matters most is senior engineering judgment, product thinking, curiosity, and the ability to grow across platform boundaries.

  • Senior Mobile Depth. 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with production-grade depth in at least one native mobile platform – iOS (Swift, SwiftUI), or Android (Kotlin, Java, Jetpack Compose). You have owned meaningful mobile features in production and understand the tradeoffs behind reliable user-facing software.
  • Product Thinking. You think beyond individual features. You can reason user experience, business logic, data flow, reliability, testing, and release quality, even when some parts are outside your deepest area of expertise.
  • Cross-Platform Curiosity. You are comfortable learning adjacent platforms and working with engineers who bring different specializations. Deep iOS or Android expertise is welcome; we are looking for someone who wants to become effective across more of the mobile product over time.
  • Quality and Release Discipline. You value tests, automation, observability, and stable releases. You have experience with some combination of unit tests, integration tests, UI automation, CI/CD, or release tooling, and you know how quality practices change the way teams ship.
  • AI-Assisted Engineering Mindset. You have practical experience using AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, or similar workflows to explore, test, debug, and accelerate engineering work. You are comfortable helping a team turn those tools into effective engineering practice.
  • Bonus Points for: Experience across both iOS and Android; Bluetooth-connected or other connected-device products; Appium or Maestro; Fastlane or GitHub Actions; mentoring engineers and improving engineering practices.
What We Offer
  • Salary Range. $160,000 - $180,000 CAD.
  • Flexible Work. A hybrid model; balancing collaboration and lifestyle flexibility.
  • Comprehensive Benefits. Health, dental, and flexible spending accounts tailored to your needs.
  • Time to Recharge. Vacation and sick days to help you rest, recharge, and stay well.
  • Growth Investment. A continuous learning environment backed by a professional development budget.
  • Inclusive by Nature. A values-driven workplace where diverse perspectives are celebrated.
