Construction Estimator (Remote)
Job Description
Mountain Point is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator with a preferred strong background in Civil and utility construction (electrical systems, underground potable water, stormwater, and sewer infrastructure, including associated earthwork). Fully remote work flexibility if not near a regional office.
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00
The above salary range represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed cost estimates and take-offs for a wide range of construction projects. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for all types of construction.
  • Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and other project documents to determine scope and requirements.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Develop complete bid packages, including scope sheets, clarifications, and assumptions.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, RFI development, and project team discussions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure continuity between estimating and execution.
  • Maintain cost databases, unit pricing, and historical project cost information.
  • Analyze project risks, schedule impacts, constructability, and alternative approaches.
  • Support value engineering efforts and provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions.
  • Assist with construction schedule preparation
Some travel is required for site walks and regional meetings. Travel Requirements 10 - 25% Job Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Construction Estimator with an emphasis on site/civil work and horizontal utility installation (water, sewer, storm, electric, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of earthwork, grading, excavation, and utility construction means and methods.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, eConverge, B2W, or similar).
  • Ability to interpret architectural, engineered building systems, civil, and utility drawings with high accuracy.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a remote environment.
  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management is a plus but not required.
