MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Process Technician I is a mid-level position responsible for mold setup, machine/job startup, shut-down, and troubleshooting of processes.

 

MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clean assigned workstations. 
  • Verifies mold setups are secured and meet all the guidelines to ensure proper operation and safety of the tool and operators.
  • Performs mold/job start-ups (First Articles), response to machine alarms, and maintain a quality standard that meets or exceed part specifications.
  • Monitor process parameters and generate adjustments as needed to eliminate dimensional and visual defects.
  • Utilize trouble-shooting techniques to determine cause of malfunctions on molding machines, ancillary equipment, and mold tooling.
  • Identify root causes of machine and process problems and focus on eliminating them to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain and submit to the appropriate department, detailed, accurate records in Process Books, Setup and Start-up logs and Mold /Machine maintenance Reports.
  • Ensures production log is being maintained to reflect current production status.
  • Ensures jobs are setup and continuously running to maximize the use of production equipment and to limit downtime and ensure that scrap levels are minimized.
  • Ensures damage prevention of equipment through good manufacturing practices.
  • Ensures working area is clean and maintained.
  • In the absence of the Supervisor Operations 1, assumes basic supervision duties and responsibilities:
    • Provide guidance, training, support, and direction to Machine Operators, Material Handlers, and Production Workers.
    • Conduct and report Production issues during Production meetings.
    • Verify attendance records of hourly employees. Monitors staff overtime hours to ensure that overtime is used only to meet company needs.
    • Ensures that production labor is monitored to produce high quality standards with low monetary output.
    • Ensures adherence to all company safety policies, rules, and regulations; company manufacturing procedures; productivity standards; and enforcing compliance as needed.
    • Ensures coordination among appropriate departments in order to meet lead times and customer deadlines.
    • Meets regularly with the Supervisor Operations 1 to maintain continuous communications on shift.
    • Communicates daily with Machine Operator 4 from other shifts to ensure a smooth transition at shift changeover.
    • Complies with all company safety and housekeeping policies, rules and regulations.
    • Complies with all departmental policies, procedures and work instructions relevant to the Manufacturing Departmen
  • Improve methods, processes, and procedures which can benefit the company and communicates these ideas to the Supervisor Operations 1.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

EXPECTATION:

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education/Certification

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be 18 years of age

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Light work: Exerting up to 70 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.

  • Extended periods of bending, lifting, standing, and sitting
  • Significant use of hands
  • Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment as required including:
    • Protective eyewear
    • Hair net
