The Bloomberg API Platform is the gateway to the world's most comprehensive financial data. We support hundreds of API products that unlock financial data and services for clients across the global capital markets. Our mission is to enable engineering groups to build, discover, and consume high-quality APIs at scale.

As part of the API DevX team, you will be the architect of the "client journey." From reimagining our Developer Portal to automating SDK generation and enforcing API standards via OpenAPI and GraphQL, your work ensures that integrating with Bloomberg is a seamless, interactive, and high-quality experience. Increasingly, this includes ensuring our documentation and capabilities are understandable by both human and agentic users.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to lead the evolution of our Client Experience Portal. This is a consumer-scale application where performance, stability, and interactivity are paramount. You will tackle complex challenges including:

High-Performance Frontend: Server-side rendering (SSR), CDN integration, and highly interactive sandbox functionality.

API Governance: Building tools that ensure spec compliance and high-quality documentation are part of the automated API CI/CD.

Developer Tooling: Automating SDK generation and maintenance to provide a seamless developer experience for clients.

Get in on the ground floor of shaping how one of the world's largest financial institutions positions its API Strategy to developers, and build the tools that bridge Bloomberg data to a variety of democratized developers. If you are passionate about high-quality API design, seamless interactivity, and building the "best in business" developer experience.

Our Tech Stack

We balance the use of proven technologies with high-impact exploratory tools. You'll work across:

  • Languages: Python, Go, TypeScript/JavaScript.

  • Frontend: React, Next.js (SSR).

  • Backend & Orchestration: Temporal (Workflow Orchestration), Kafka (Event Streaming).

  • Infrastructure: Docker, PostgreSQL, CDN integration.

  • Standards: OpenAPI, GraphQL, JSON Schema.

We'll Trust You To:

  • Lead by Design: Architect and own critical components of the API Portal and the underlying DevX infrastructure.

  • Advocate for the User: Build sandboxes, interactive documentation, and testing tools that make "Time to First Call" as short as possible for our clients.

  • Own the Lifecycle: Drive the full development lifecycle, from gathering requirements with Product Managers to deploying globally distributed services.

  • Mentor & Collaborate: Work within an Agile, multi-disciplinary team, providing code reviews and technical leadership to elevate our engineering standards.

You'll Need to Have:

  • 4+ years of professional experience with an object-oriented language (Python, Go, or TypeScript preferred).

  • Education: A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Full-Stack Mastery: Proven experience building and scaling consumer-facing web applications.

  • Architectural Fluency: A strong understanding of system design, distributed systems, and how to build scalable solutions.

  • Communication Skills: The ability to explain complex technical concepts to both engineering peers and non-technical stakeholders.

We'd Love to See:

  • Experience with API Documentation tools (Swagger/ReDoc) or building Developer Playgrounds.

  • Contributions to Open Source or experience publishing libraries/artifacts.

  • Familiarity with Temporal or other workflow engines for complex automation.

  • A passion for API Design First principles and governance.

Salary Range = 160,000 - 240,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
