Job Description

Jolkona Catalyst is an accelerator for international social ventures. This intensive program brings social entrepreneurs from developing countries to Seattle, where they can hone their business plans, gain valuable insights, and connect with prospective investors and funders. The Communications volunteer/intern will play a vital role in tracking everyday activities of our social entrepreneurs through writing and posting the blogs, attending workshops, interviewing the entrepreneurs, being a part of site visits and helping manage content on our social media channels.

Jolkona is looking for a smart, savvy, up-and-coming rock star that is looking to build experience in social media, marketing, and community management. We're looking for someone to manage and connect with our community and play a crucial role in expanding the reach and visibility of Jolkona online. 

Essential Functions:

The Jolkona Catalyst program constitutes of several workshops, site visits and social events. Visit here to learn more about the program: http://jolkona.org/jolkonacatalyst. Listed below are the essential functions.

  • Listen, participate, and start conversations that engage Jolkona's community and introduce new communities to our mission and vision.
  • Research, identify, and engage with advocates, blogger passion groups, and media influencers.
  • Manage and build relationships with our community, bloggers and the media.
  • Document workshops, social events and site visits with the cohorts. And author blog posts on the sessions each day. 
  • Interview the cohorts and document their experience, learning's through blogs.
  • Tweets on twitter, posts on Facebook and help manage content on our social media channels.
  • Be available for the site visits and final showcase event, document the proceedings and post on our blog and social media. 
  • Help maintain and follow the schedule for blogs.
  • Stay up to date on new social media tools, best practices and how other organizations are using them.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated with a degree in Communications, Writing, Journalism, or related fields.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Independent and a creative self-starter.
  • Ability to multitask and keep deadlines.
  • Comfortable with variety of social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Youtube.
  • Video editing background is a plus.

This is an unpaid internship.

Time Commitment:

15-20 hours/week
