Senior Content Manager

Great Gray

Boston, MA • On-site, Remote

Full-time

Posted 12 days ago

Job description

Why Great Gray?
At Great Gray Group, we strive to set the bar for the retirement services industry. Our goal is to deliver advanced retirement solutions that combine our core fiduciary services with robust investment options, innovative technology, and dedicated client service. We focus on making choices clearer, transitions smoother, and the client experience more delightful. Complacency isn't in our vocabulary. Every day, we look for opportunities to better serve our clients, be an excellent business partner, and earn the trust of those who rely on us.

The Role

Great Gray is looking to add a Senior Content Manager to our Marketing team. In this role, you will own the production and management of content for the Great Gray Trust Company (GGTC) brand - our institutional CIT trustee platform. You will build and execute against defined content pillars spanning CIT education, TDF thought leadership, and emerging retirement strategies. Strong content is also the foundation of our earned media and communications work, and this role will contribute directly to that pipeline. This is a high-impact role that sits at the intersection of editorial quality, institutional credibility, and category authority in the retirement services space.

Location

This position will work from our Boston, MA office. Great Gray currently supports a hybrid work model with 4 days onsite, and 1 day remote.

Visa sponsorship or transfer of an existing visa is not available for this position. Applicants must be authorized to work directly for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship or transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Execute content production for the Great Gray Trust Company brand across our strategic content pillars. Formats include thought leadership articles, whitepapers, primers, distributor briefs, email sequences, executive blog posts, and sales enablement materials
  • Manage the end-to-end content workflow from brief through publication: draft, SME review, compliance approval, design handoff, and distribution
  • Partner closely with senior leaders in compliance and legal to conduct thorough reviews of content for adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices, ensuring all published materials meet regulatory standards
  • Write and edit high-quality content aligned to Great Gray’s content pillars, ICPs across advisors, institutional buyers, asset managers, and recordkeepers, and brand voice standards (authoritative, institutional, precise).
  • Apply the atomization content model to repurpose core assets into multiple formats (e.g., whitepaper: blog posts, email sequence, LinkedIn series, sales forwardable)
  • Partner with subject matter experts, product marketing, demand generation, and compliance to ensure content accuracy, regulatory soundness, and brand consistency
  • Support SEO and AEO content production, including keyword-informed blog posts, FAQ schema, author markup, and structured data for organic discoverability
  • Maintain and organize the central content asset library with accurate metadata tagging (brand, pillar, ICP, funnel stage, format, lifecycle status)
  • Track content performance using established measurement frameworks (attention, engagement, commercial impact) and contribute insights to weekly and monthly performance reviews
  • Manage the quarterly editorial calendar for Great Gray Trust Company, maintaining the planned monthly rhythm: one thought leadership article or whitepaper, one distributor brief or case study, one earned media or event feature, one executive blog post, and one newsletter issue
  • Collaborate with design and digital teams to bring content to life across owned, earned, sales-led and earned channels. Strong content is the raw material for earned media and PR — this role will feed pitch-ready ideas, executive perspectives, and data-driven narratives to support media and analyst engagement
  • Complete other related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field
  • 10+ years of content marketing or editorial experience in financial services, B2B fintech, or a similarly regulated industry
  • Experience writing for institutional audiences -- plan sponsors, RIAs, broker-dealers, or asset managers
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and compellingly across formats — long-form thought leadership, short-form blog, email, and social — with an adaptable voice
  • Familiarity with content operations: editorial calendars, production workflows, review/approval processes, and asset management
  • Experience working with or alongside compliance and legal review processes is a strong plus
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices, including keyword research, content structuring, and metadata; experience with tools such as Semrush, Ahrefs, or similar
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; comfortable managing multiple concurrent deliverables and deadlines
  • Experience with sales enablement content and an understanding of how content supports pipeline and buyer journeys
  • Fluency with AI-assisted content production tools, with a clear understanding of where AI helps (research, first drafts, repurposing, SEO) and where human judgment is non-negotiable (market thesis, SME expertise, compliance accuracy, brand voice, and final editorial sign-off). We operate a “humans author, AI assists” model
  • Experience in asset management, retirement services, CITs, TDFs, or ERISA-governed financial content is a meaningful advantage. Familiarity with earned media, media relations, or PR content pipelines is a plus — strong content in this role will feed directly into media and analyst engagement
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to bring best practice ideas to the team.
  • Your standards reflect our core values: Growth Mindset, Disciplined Curiosity, Grit, Results Ownership, Collaboration.
