Shape the voice of System76 across every outward-facing channel.

Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid- 4/1)

Department: Marketing

Reports To: Marketing Director

Job Type: Full-Time

The Role

This role owns how System76 communicates with the world—across social media, newsletters, and long‑form content. You’ll translate product development into clear, compelling updates. You’ll connect with users and developers. And you’ll shape the voice of System76 across every outward‑facing channel. This is a hands‑on role for someone who can write, create, engage, and iterate quickly.

What You’ll Do Content & Storytelling
  • Write and publish blog posts about:
  • Product releases (Pop!_OS, COSMIC, hardware)
  • Behind‑the‑scenes development updates
  • Engineering deep dives (in collaboration with devs)
  • Translate complex technical work into clear, engaging narratives
Newsletter (Lifecycle + Updates)
  • Own the System76 newsletter end‑to‑end:
  • Editorial calendar
  • Writing and editing with a focus on brand growth and product education
  • Segmentation and optimization
  • Ensure customers stay informed and excited about what’s shipping
Social Media & Community Presence
  • Manage System76’s social channels (X, LinkedIn, Mastodon, Reddit, etc.)
  • Engage directly with the community (developers, Linux users, customers)
  • Turn product updates into short‑form, high‑signal content
  • Identify and amplify community contributions
Editorial Ownership
  • Maintain a consistent, recognizable System76 voice
  • Build and manage a content calendar aligned with product releases
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and product teams
Feedback Loop
  • Surface insights from the community back to internal teams
  • Identify content opportunities based on user questions and trends

What You Bring Core Skills
  • Excellent writing and editing skills (clear, concise, technical when needed)
  • Experience managing blog + newsletter + social as a cohesive system
  • Strong sense of product storytelling
Experience
  • 10+ years in developing multi‑platform content, community, or product marketing
  • Experience with HubSpot marketing platform, ability to produce visual content within Canva or Adobe
  • Familiarity in editing short form videos for social platforms
  • Experience with developer or technical audiences strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Linux, open source, or developer tools is a major plus
