What is blockchain compliance?

Blockchain compliance refers to the processes and practices that ensure blockchain projects and transactions adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. This includes anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC) requirements, and monitoring for suspicious activities on blockchain networks. Professionals in blockchain compliance help organizations implement policies that prevent illegal activity, promote transparency, and protect users. Their work is crucial in building trust and ensuring the legitimacy of blockchain technologies within the financial and regulatory landscape.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Blockchain Compliance professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Blockchain Compliance professional, you need a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, anti-money laundering (AML) laws, and blockchain technology, often supported by a degree in law, finance, or related fields. Familiarity with compliance management systems, blockchain analytics tools (like Chainalysis or Elliptic), and relevant certifications such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) is highly beneficial. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills help you interpret complex regulations and collaborate with both technical and legal teams. These skills ensure that organizations remain compliant with evolving laws, mitigate risks, and facilitate trust in blockchain-based operations.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in blockchain compliance roles?

Professionals in blockchain compliance often navigate rapidly evolving regulatory landscapes, requiring them to stay updated on both global and local laws. Interpreting how traditional compliance measures apply to decentralized technologies can be complex, and ensuring that blockchain solutions adhere to anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) requirements is an ongoing challenge. Additionally, collaborating with technical teams to implement compliance controls and educating stakeholders on regulatory expectations are key parts of the role. Successful blockchain compliance specialists must balance innovation with risk management, and proactively address emerging threats.

Job description

We're not just building products-we're rebuilding the entire financial system. For over a decade, we've been the trusted infrastructure powering Mastercard, Visa, Robinhood, and PayPal. Now, we're opening the world's financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way.
The Opportunity
Join us in advancing blockchain innovation to transform global finance. As a Senior Product Manager, Custody & Blockchain, you'll be at the forefront of developing and scaling blockchain infrastructure that empowers institutions, enables new asset classes, and defines the standards for decentralized finance. You will help power the rails behind billions in digital transactions and enhance the connectivity between the traditional financial world and blockchain technology.
Your Impact
  • Architect the Future of On-Chain Finance: Drive core features of our blockchain architecture, shaping how assets are issued, transferred, and settled across public and private blockchains.
  • Advance Blockchain Interoperability: Lead initiatives to expand Paxos' multi-chain capabilities and enable seamless integrations with emerging blockchain protocols and ecosystems.
  • Empower Institutions on Blockchain: Collaborate with some of the world's largest financial institutions to deliver APIs, platforms, and toolkits for secure, scalable, and regulated blockchain adoption.
  • Define Security & Compliance Standards: Partner with compliance and engineering to create and maintain industry-leading practices for blockchain security, transparency, and regulatory alignment.
  • Democratize Digital Access: Build blockchain-based products that extend trusted financial access to millions, leveraging decentralization to reduce barriers for underserved markets.
What You'll Do
  • Own the Blockchain Product Roadmap: Develop and execute a strategy for Paxos' blockchain solutions, from protocol integrations and infrastructure enhancements to on-chain settlement and governance features.
  • Champion Developer and User Experience: Work closely with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to understand their technical needs and deliver blockchain solutions that drive adoption.
  • Optimize Protocol Performance: Use analytics and hands-on research to improve on-chain transaction throughput, scalability, and cost efficiency at massive, global scale
  • Innovate Relentlessly: Spearhead breakthrough projects in cryptography, DeFi, and blockchain interoperability-continuously evaluating new protocols, consensus mechanisms, and emerging industry standards.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Align engineering, compliance, and commercial efforts to accelerate blockchain product launches and shape our platform's regulatory edge.
Why You'll Love This Role
  • Multi-Chain Impact: Your contributions will define how major assets-from stablecoins to tokenized equities-move across blockchains at scale.
  • Frontier Innovation: Build products at the edge of what's possible in blockchain infrastructure, consensus, interoperability, and DeFi.
  • Global Reach: Enable the next wave of institutional and retail adoption, helping democratize finance with blockchain technology.
  • Industry Pacesetter: Influence the world's most regulated, secure blockchain infrastructure-and see your work establish new market standards.
  • Career Growth: Collaborate with leading crypto product minds while deepening your expertise in blockchain, cryptography, and distributed systems.
About You
  • 6-8 years of Product Management experience, including delivering complex technical products-preferably in blockchain, crypto, fintech, or infrastructure domains.
  • Visionary on Blockchain: You see the transformative potential of distributed ledgers, programmable assets, and open financial rails.
  • Technical Fluency: Deep comfort with blockchain protocols, smart contract platforms (e.g., Ethereum, Solana, Layer 2s), cryptography, and APIs.
  • Customer Centricity: Track record partnering with enterprise clients to deliver robust, scalable, and high-compliance solutions on blockchain.
  • Data-Driven: Use product analytics and on-chain data to guide decisions, optimize performance, and track market adoption.
  • Mission-Oriented: Passion for the democratization of finance, decentralized systems, and making blockchain technology accessible to all.

Bonus Points:
  • Experience with multi-chain architecture, DeFi, staking, stablecoin infrastructures, or token standards (ERC, SPL, etc.)
  • Background scaling blockchain or crypto products to institutional adoption
  • Understanding of digital asset regulatory frameworks (e.g., AML, KYC, FATF guidelines) and blockchain compliance best practices
