Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Responsible for all metal finishing processes and ensuring that all required processes are completed to produce parts that meet quality and ISO standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Polishing, deburring, tumble deburring, blasting, in-process cleaning of surgical instruments and implants. 
  • Inspects products to blueprint specifications. 
  • Utilizes and completes documentation, as required.
  • Understands and follows policies and procedures. 
  • Trains Level I operators in respective work cell to assure good quality parts are being produced in a timely, safe, and efficient manner. 
  • Ensures general maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
  • Complies with ISO policies and procedures. 
  • Troubleshoots problems associated with equipment, tooling, and processes. 

OCCASSIONAL DUTIES:

  • Overtime on an as needed basis. 
  • Assists supervisor, as needed. 
  • Assists in other departments, as needed. 
  • Once employee demonstrates competency in position, he/she may be required to train others in similar roles. 

SKILLS:

  • Ability to use polishing lathes, suction or pressure blasters required.
  • Expert knowledge of blueprint reading and machinery limitations.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to be team oriented. 
  • Excellent visual inspection ability. Sufficient manual dexterity to handle and manipulate delicate parts and measuring instruments
  • Analytical capabilities to interpret detailed and complex blueprints.
  • Ability to operate inspection and measurement equipment.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two years of previous experience in all aspects of metal finishing: stainles steel, aluminum, titanium, and some polymers.
